Record video comment not working - On Boonex Demo

The possibility to do video recordings on comments have always fascinated me.
However, like what I guess to be 90% of the community never got it to fully work.

Same goes for current Boonex Demo. Not so inspiring.

Thank you for report, actually only first comment after demo reset is failing, 2nd and any future comment processed without problems, I've created bug report ticket: http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/ticket/2982

However this problem should not affect real sites, except the very first comment.

Thank you for looking into this Alex.

When I'm testing on Dolphin Demo and separate 7.1B2 I'm actually getting same result.

Chrome: There is no picture showing at all. You can push record but screen is black and time is not moving.
IE8: Picture shows and you can start recording. However, regardless of how many times I try to record I always get an error message.

Please take a thorough look into this function for different browsers. A user that takes the time to Video record and then sit and wait patiently for 30sec-1minute while processing won't be happy seeing an error message. Specially not after having done it twice or three times. That won't generate any nice comments.

I've tried in different browsers (including IE8 and Chrome) using Mac and Windows and have no error during video recording on demo.boonex.com

Thanks.
Also getting it to record both in IE8 and Chrome on Demo site.
Only issue being that in Chrome it records the screen and not recording through camera which is a bit odd.
Don't see that problem in IE8 which seems to work fine.
Anyone else having the same experience?

Accidently pushed report button. Sorry about that Alex.

It maybe related to particular configuration on your computer, it maybe several input devices for sound and video, and in Crome - camera is not default input video device and need to be selected explicitly.

Only issue being that in Chrome it records the screen and not recording through camera which is a bit odd.

the demo site I was told does not get update with the "fixes" as they are put in SVN.

when our next release of 7.1.1 comes out, the demo will be updated.

I have working video comments, so they do work.

Rayz provided me with the solution.

1. Install Chat
2. Enable Chat for your membership level
3. Go to Chat
4. Open settings
5. Change Camera settings

This will allow Video recording on Articles, Blogs etc using your web camera.

Maybe there in the future could be another way in Dolphin standard version to edit camera settings if the website owner isn't interested in the chat function?

1) Chat.bmp · 244.1K · 255 views
2) Chat.bmp · 199.3K · 239 views
3) Chat.bmp · 164K · 238 views

Suggest that in future versions of Dolphin the user can change camera setup without having to go through Chat.

Having to go through Chat forces installation of that module and do not seem logical for someone wanting to make a video comment or video recording.

Isn't it possible to do it with right mouse button click on the flash area then select "Settings", select video tab and choose proper video device there ? I think this is common behaviour in Flash apps.

That worked just fine. Thank you Alex!

I should put that on the sites FAQ or something.
