Recommended PHP Version for Dolphin 7.1.4?

So what is the recommended PHP Version for Dolphin 7.1.4?  I am starting to believe some of my random errors are due to an incompatible version of PHP.

5.3.x or 5.4.x

Random error can be other things. It not likely php unless your lower then 5.3 or higher then 5.4

What kind of hosting. Dedicated, VPS or Shared.

What are the server specs.

Or quite often a underpowered server. Common on shared hosting and many VPS systems as hosting companies have a tendency of over selling space.
