Recent rash of spammers

Hello All,

I know it is a well-worn topic but are there any new tricks people have come up with lately for dealing with spammers on a Dolphin site? My site has been lucky, I guess, because it has been running for years and up until now, I've just had to deal with an occasional spammer. Now it seems like my site is on some list. I'm getting at least five sign ups a day from mostly .ru email addresses that spam their profile description and post a spam blog entry. All trying to link to/sell something.

I've got my registration form set up with recapture and the need to solve a math equation, I've activated the Dolphin spam tools in the back end. Maybe a start is to somehow ban .ru email addresses? Though there are some that use a different email.

Thank you for your thoughts and tips!

A good way to stop a lot of spam is to charge people to add content.

I made the registration process include text that instructed newly registered users that I was giving them a free membership upgrade. The free membership doesnt allow them to do anything. When they upgrade for free they basically have a free membership that can post blogs etc. I still get a couple of members sign up per week though.

I have upgrade the recaptcha to version 2 which I got from AntonLV, as well as the Delete Unconfirmed and Mandatory confirmation mods.

I am here today looking for something else that would stop them and the Logical Captcha looks like a good addition.

I do get a couple/few per week as I said though.

On this topic... is there a way to update the ReCaptcha to the latest version? Dolphin by default is using the old v 1.0 recaptcha.
