ReCaptcha a waste of time

Ok, I installed the new site, then enabled the recaptcha. Within hours I had 5 new spam members. Not as many as before but this form of site protection no longer works effectively.

With all the discussion on this site about what worked and what didn't, you would think the Boonex team would at least take heed. By far, the best thread to read on this subject is

I do not understand why you guys didn't include some of these very easy and very effective ways into Dolphin, instead relegating us to once again have to custom build our own spam protection systems.

Now, I understand you decided to use recaptcha as a shortcut to finish the beta project a little quicker. I also understand the need to move things forward but you should not have chosen one of the most important pieces to "shortcut"

Once again, you have failed us.

Have you tried a 2 page join form where the captcha is on the 2nd page?

I setup mine up like that because I was deleting 10 chinese spammers a day.

It dropped them down to nothing.

The way I have my 7.09 setup, I gotten maybe 5 in the last 6 months and those were real people creating the accounts. The human question is the best way as far as I am concerned to control the entire situation. I think it works so well that having the captcha is more of an annoyance to my members than a help.

Test my login, look towards the bottom, you'll see it.

I will probably remove the captcha
