Re arrange Avatar Page

I decided to create a new post since this was first discussed in the forum for 7.0 and in the general area.

This is an extension of this topic> http://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/Re-Arrange-Avatar-Page-.htm

It involves a reversal of the avatar page, I have done this on all sites that use the avatars module.

The problem for this was discovered when watching friends test the join process, most all failed at this important process, the completion of the avatar crop and add.

The default layout poses a problem when the user uploads a large image, the crop box is huge and the user would 90% of the time not scroll down the page to "see" the "add avatar" button to complete the process.

They would upload the image, see it and considered it finished, then click on the nav menu going elsewhere on the site.

Doing this change has completely fixed that issue, all avatars now get completed.

I am attaching the block_wide.html with the applied changes this can replace your file or you can choose to edit it yourself.

This has always been that way...the avatar is a load of crap, it is what it is.

I was thinking of removing avatars from my main site all together and just having profile photos.

i think if user upload their photo from their profile their avatar should automatically be uploaded instead of going n choosing from avatar section.

I agree ... It does confuse some members too at times.

If you remove the avatar module, then it will.

On my site, members like having avatars, they can use all kinds of images, from cartoons to whatever.  They still have the profile photos as well.

It doesn't work if you remove avatar..it will only show ur profile pic but not the tinny avatar pic. That tinny avatar will remain blank. More over user can't crop the picture. Now i have to install the avatar module again :/

No, in the admin section, we have the ability to choose the tiny thumbnail, and "avatar icon or profile photo icon."

That was probably because you forgot to clear the caches.  If the avatar module is not installed, Dolphin will display the profile photo automatically.  I helped someone with this just last night.  We uninstalled avatar module and then refreshed the pages and the "avatar" was automatically the profile photo.

If the avatar module is not installed

This has been mentioned before. Why do we need the avatar module?

If we remove it, the profile photos take over.

Some say, the members like selecting avatars; can't they just upload what they want?
