Random new users (SPAMMERS)

In the past month I have been getting 10-20 random new user. All the new users are spammers and not actually users. Only way to stop them is to disable my join form. I did a search in the forum and tried some of the techniques that some people suggested, but still these spammers are getting through. Anyone have a working solution?

simple.... ban china by IP.... problem 99% solved.

 Did you do a 2 part join form?

I completely stopped China from spamming my site by adding the capture on page 2 of the Join form.

Also, the Human Readable Field is another good alternative that will work.  But you have to change the answer once in a while as once they figure it out, they just add it to their script.

Yea, I had China blocked for the last two years. Added capture as well. Still same issue :(

you could try making profile photo madetory on join. B uts dont usually upload photos.

deleting all the files in root will solve the problem for good :D

Just add a question to your join form that has an answer relevant to your site. 99.9% of the spammers don't speak English so they can't get past these.

Make sure the question doesn't match the answer like "How do you find answers to spam questions?" with an answer of "SEARCH"

No one, and I do mean NO ONE would ever get past that one....

 LOL, I see what you did there... and it's very true. There have been times where two or three of the threads on the homepage were about spammers and people will still post new ones.

Creating a security question seems to be working. For the past 24 hours no new spam sign ups. Will keep you guys posted.
