My recommendation is as it has always been:

Install and run your own RMS if you have the means, it's definitely an item that is worth the investment.

I am using a shared host with Hostgator. I know my own server would be the best.

A move to a true VPS would be a wise investment when your ready to really run the site.

If you are just starting your site out these people will provide you with shared hosting that is compatable with Dolphin AND includes RMS for around $250US a year.

Many shared hosting providers will have 75 to 150 domains (or more) on their shared servers. This company never has more than 40 (sometimes less depending on what domains are doing on each server.

Additionally the can set you up with your own server (not VPS) for around $100US per month. I've been working with them on several Dolphin sites on their shared serverand haven't had any issues yet.

Most VPS plans are useless for an RMS.  Unless you buy a premium VPS plan, you'll get a server with a 10 mbps connection speed, and that won't support very many concurrent streaming video connections.  If you want to run your own RMS, you need at least a 100 mbps connection.... 1 Gbps if your video chat system is relatively busy.  I plan on always using a seperate server for RMS .... that way if chat gets busy, I just upgrade the RMS without having to move the entire site.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
