RMS- another noob question, apologies.

in D7, Flash Apps. Under the RMS settings, "USE RMS" is unchecked by default. Should I enable RMS on a shared host? What are the pros and cons? Confused, and still trying to get RSS feeds to work. ANy info. is appreciated.

You need RMS in order to broadcast video/audio in the chat room, Instant Messenger, and video comments, etc.. If you do not want this option then dont worry about it. I would suggest purchasing a Stand-Alone RMS package if you DO want to use these functions

says it cannot connect to RMS

Im sure it can't. Do you have an RMS package with your hosting? You will need to know the RMS IP address and Port numbers. If you do not have a RMS package, you will need to purchase one if your host does not offer it.

thanks man, you have been a big help! I will look into getting it, and i do not think my host offers it. I am always open to move to another host who does if you have any suggestions.

Also if your happy with your current host you can purchase pure RMS packages.  Dolphininstalls.com offers $6/month RMS service (I have no financial connection to them).  The person who runs it is great and very responsive to your needs.

Even with the RMS package installed via the D7 RC1 download, the RMS server will not function? I have all the Flash Apps in my Admin panel and can even configure them. My host does not say anywhere that it specifically supports RMS. Other than the connection errors with video chat that everyone else is having, it all seems to work ok. Forgive me for being inexperienced, I am not sure I understand completely. What exactly would a custom RMS install or another server that specifically supports RMS enable that is not already? Again any info. appreciated.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
