RESPONSIVE Dolphin layout...

Is there anything already available that will make Dolphin perform as a responsive site?

By this I mean that it will change layout if the screen size is altered so same site can be viewed on desktop, tablet, phone etc...

For example try dragging the screen size on this URL

(after following URL to wordpress site, you have to click on the template image to view live!)

Ive built several WP sites with responsive templates and they work fantastic. 

If I could find this for Dolphin....???

Im sure I saw something a few years ago but cant find anything on market or forums now.

also most of the demo links on those templates dont even load!

The term RESPONSIVE is not a term i am familiar with with templates.

The type of template layouts are Liquid, Elastic, Relative, Fluid, Flexible and Fixed.

None of them however will work on all devices. When you get to a screen as small as mobile devices then standard templates just will not fit on them.

So the answer is no. A Liquid, Elastic or Fluid template will adjust as the browser is made smaller or bigger, but only within the limits of the content. This is the reason mobile apps and mobile versions of sites exist. Because the content has to be changed to limit it for smaller mobile screen sizes.

There are very few fluid templates in the market. Most are of the Fixed type.

To handle mobile devices you must do what other sites such as facebook do. Create a mobile version of the site with less content, smaller pics, smaller everything for that matter.

Actually no. That was not the intent. webburry23 just happens to be the only one using the tag Boonex Templates Instead the tag of just Template should have been used in that link to see them all.

But there are a number tags that can be used to search for templates. Templates, boonex templates, dolphin templates, ect.

'Responsive' is a tag used with wordpress templates instead of 'fluid' that seems to be with Dolphin!

I have a bunch of templates for WP that are listed as responsive and all work in any size browser just as the one I linked to does.

Shame it wont work this way for dolphin :-(

Actually Fluid is a globally standard term used in a number of html editors that are used to make these templates.

Wordpress obviously pulled a Microsoft and made up a new term to use for their templates.

maybe so, but the terminology isnt my probem.  

Would be nice if this feature was available for D8 as other CMS are making it widely available via templates... more people using different size screens to view, much easier to have a template that adapts to screen size than having to build mobile versions on top of normal versions... 

Last I checked, "responsive" (in regards to cabinet design) means a fluid layout which adapts to any screen size.  Basically a "write once, looks great everywhere" kind of thing.  Bootstrap can be an example of this.

Are there any responsive Dolphin templates?  No.  I have a Bootstrap-based template in the works, but it isn't for actual use, since it requires a ton of new HTML (to make use of the Bootstrap CSS and JS) to work.  Just something cool.  And that would also be the reason why there aren't any responsive templates, because it would require a bunch of incompatible work.

If you really need something for mobile devices, the best bet are either the mobile apps or the WAP mod/thing.

I am testing the recent release of the "Nightclub" responsive template, http://webcamyourface.com/index.php?skin=nightclub

I'm getting strange things on the page builder, actually having to reverse the columns to correct them.

The responsive part is amazing on some pages.

Who else is testing/using this template? There currently is not a support thread here.

I had some similar problems with another template by this vendor. I listed the problems I was seeing and sent him a PM. The problems were all fixed, and the template was updated.

Im testing AndrewP's responsive template NEO and so far its brilliant.

Quite easy to adjust the CMS also, works nicely with all mods so far... 

Has made a huge difference to my site Im working on, means no need for mobile app and a mobile version that does everything the whole site does!

Not really tested the other ones yet, I bought NEO before they were released and so far, Im happy to use NEO. Andrew has been very good with support for it also.
