personally, i would suggest getting away from that host with this script. if you are facing this kind of an issue with this already, and havent even begun yet, you are goin to have some bad days.

1) Do you have adfree v6.1.4 of dolphin installed?  --> If not, INSTALL it .....
2) Go to Admin > Settings > Advanced Settings > and REMOVE the Dolphin License Code

3) Go to bottom of page and click Save Changes and NOT the Save watermark button
4) Triple check that the Dolphin License Code is NOT in the Advanced Settings
5) Log out of admin
6) Clear your browser cache
7) Log back in
8) Red screen
9) Enter license
10) Smile!

There's your step-by-step  .....

Do I understand this correctly?  If you start with the ad version, can't you just switch to the ad free version by paying the license fee?  Do you have to to a reinstall? - that would kinda suck.

The red screen is a red popup just after you login:

If you don't get it you still have the Dolphin License Code in Admin > Settings > Advanced Settings  .....

Triple check to see if it is still there or not before you complete step #5.

If the Dolphin License Code is still in the admin panel you WILL NOT get the red popup  .....

Cal - I don't know about that or not  .....  just repeating what I have heard in the forums  .....
