Quoted text in replies

I have been searching for this without luck.  Is thee a way to quote text in the reply to a comment without having to cut and paste?  Being able to select the part you want to quote would be a nice feature as it helps clarity in replies.

Yes, that is correct.  First of all realise I am a Dolphin n00b  and I have much to learn.

It could very well be I am just overlooking the "quote" link; I only saw the reply link last night, I was looking for it inside of the comment box, or that I have quoting turned off in a setting in the admin panel.  So if you don't mind holding my hand and giving me a walk through, it is appreciated

OK, I guess you don't get anywhere without asking.  On my Dolphin installation on my website when leaving a replay to a comment, there is no quote button/link.   Is this a feature turned on in the admin panel or do I need to install a mod to be able to have quoted replies?

Comment box as in where?  Profile comments?

If so, then no. Comment boxes do not have that. Comment boxes are intended to be simple. For leaving comments like.

"Hey i really like your profile".

They are not meant to carry on conversations so do not have any of those features.


If your talking about the forums, then my mistake. But perhaps you need to be a lot more specific on exactly what page and what box your referring to because dolphin has a boat load of features so it's easy to get lost. So your going to kinda have to put our nose in exactly where you are.

Yes, that is what I meant.  Hopefully this feature will be added as a lot of the social sites I have used had this feature and it helped with understanding when posting a reply.  Say for instance you are replying to a comment that had several areas.  To make it clear to what you are replying to, you highlight the text, hit quote and then that is added above your comment.  I can still do that, just have to cut and paste and add the bit to the comment before posting.  Perhaps there is a mod for this.  Or perhaps if not, then I could request one to be built as I am not at the mod building level.

So this site does not run off of Dolphin?  or is it the 7.1 build?  I see quoted replies here.

No this is not dolphin.

But this is also a forum. Not a comment box.

Dolphin has forums too. And the forums are able to do that. Comment boxes cannot.

Ah!  perhaps I can do a hack then to add quoting to other comment boxes.  I have been on another social site and believe me, using quotes in comment boxes is used constantly so it is a feature that needs to be added, if not by hook, then by crook.
