Question on Photo Migration

Quick question- are photos resized during migration?  If so, are the originals resized, or do they remain high-res?

Thanks so much for the reply!  Is this absolutely necessary?  Everyone loved the originals being available at full size on our site in D6.

I'm also getting the memory exhausted error during the photo resizing part of the data migration, and even though I've increased the memory limit in the php.ini located in our root Dolphin directory, it's not affecting the data migration (error still says it's exhausted 32MB).  Where should I place a php.ini to correct the data migration error?

I'm sorry to be bumping this, but has anyone run into this and figured out where the php.ini needs to go to take effect?  Thanks!
