Question on File Security

Hello, I'm new to Dolphin, but not to CMS websites. I notice that when I install the script, it wants me to CHMOD my directories to world writable (777). When I finalize the install, it has me only change a few of the directory permissions to 755. Leaving the directory permissions at 777 can make your site vulnerable to script kiddies trying to hack it. So my question is, can the directories be changed back to 755 or will changing them affect the operation of the script?

Thanks!

Only a few folders need 777 permissions. See there: http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/DetailedInstall

To answer your questions: Yes those folders will be vulnerable and no you can not set them to 755. This has been discussed here a million times and just about everyone here who uses shared hosting has had crap put in those folders by script kiddies at one point or another.
