Question about multiple select field

I want to create a multiple select field on my site and then make it searchable. It is for languages so for example I want someone to be able to put english, spanish, german on their profile and then a user can search any of those and the profile will show up.

How is this possible? I've noticed the multiple select field only worlds by holding CTRL and it's just not very professional. The check boxes isn't very effective either because there are too many languages.

Am I missing something simple? Sorry if so but please help me out. Thanks in advance.

that is what multiple select field is meant for and i think to press ctrl is browser default. Its very common to select multiple things by pressing ctrl.

well when doing a search it's possible to use the selector and add additional criteria with a green + button that creates an additional drop down. Is it possible to make a field like that?

You can see this on the default advanced search. It is shown under the country. It would be ideal if I could have that work on the profile section to select multiple options.

really it isn't acceptable form to select multiple objects with CTRL. that makes phone users, ipad users, etc all shut out from using the site.

than use checkbox lol. I am really out of ideas.

EDIT: or you can post a job and tell the dev to create a text box and when a user enter "e" all lang with e will appear in list and user select a value and it stores the value in some hidden field or any other way. Something like this should work for you but its not standard field in html.
