Profile cover option messed up with 7.4.2?

Hello,

So I've moved up to 7.42 and am having some strange behavior from the profiles cover option. Before upgrading, the user could add a profile photo (shows in the little circle in the profile header) and add a separate profile cover image. Now the profile cover just displays a stretched version on the profile photo. There is still a button that says "change profile cover" and when clicked uploads the photo to the profile cover album but doesn't change the profile cover to the image. It does nothing. The profile cover just remains the stretched profile photo. I've emptied the cache and tried uploading the profile cover image before adding a profile photo. Makes no difference. Anyone have this same problem?

I double-checked this on http://demo.boonex.com/. The same thing happens there. It seems there is a bug with 7.4.2. There is no method to change the profile cover image. The button to do so is there but it doesn't work. It uploads an image to the profile cover images album but that is it, it doesn't actually add the new image to the profile cover.

In the event the bug doesn't get fixed, does anybody know how to hide/remove the button to change the profile cover. My members will only get irritated trying to use it and then have me tell them I'm aware it doesn't work.

You're right.

What amazes me is nobody else has found this problem as well.

I checked both the 7.3.5 amd 7.4.2 file /templates/base/scripts/BxBaseProfileView.php and almost 1000 lines have vanished in the new script.

The class BxBaseProfileView extends class BxBaseProfileGenerator extends BxDolProfile is missing and this is actually most of the file.

I'd suggest you use my Random Profile Cover http://digital-junction.com/demo (click any of the members) but it won't work until the current problem is fixed.

I'd say it's a bug.

------------------------------------

You can probably remove the button by removing the code in /templates/base/profile_cover.html

Make a copy of the file and use the copy with deleted code until the problem is fixed.

Interesting but I plan on keeping my method.

Thank you for the replies and information. I have now reported this bug in the technical forum as suggested in the upgrade instructions.
