Competitive scripts have this feature. The Profile Tabs and Profile Edit Tabs available in the store are written by two different people. Although both work, ascetically they're not the same and will confuse my members using my site.
As more and more information is being requested, tabs are becoming essential. It's also nice to isolate the "essentials" from the rest of the data gathering information.
