Profile Photos, Covers, Avatars, and Thumbnails...

I am really frustrated with having different Profile Photos, from Avatars and Thumbnails... and the difficulty in using these including cover...its really not simple or clear and very messy...

Now I would like to be able to upload or choose a profile photo from any of my albums which will be loaded into my profile photo album, in doing so update all thumbnails and and profile pictures to the same picture.

I have bought the profile picker mod, which just complicates things more, I have bought two cover mods first from emmetbytes which was good for dolphin 7.1.x but didnt add covers to the database and he has since disappeared... now i bought another mod from ilbellodelweb which i thought may help me solve this problem...

This must be the most frustrating problem in the world.... the selection of a profile picture should be simple but its not...and nobody has a mod to make this right?

If i had to ask for an update sooner or later this one is the one that needs to be fixed first...

Get rid of Avatar Mod, And merge all the pictures into one single profile picture.

Also I noticed if you change your default album names in the photo or video module etc... the albums that were previously default albums are are not renamed to maintain the consistency of the data and photos that have been already uploaded to those as default albums...

I would recommend these default album names to be a dynamic language key... like {User FirstName} Profile Photos... So you can change this whenever you want and it won't affect the database...

These for me are bugs that need to be iron out...

You can already uninstall Avatar module and use Photos module for user's thumbnails. Just make sure that Dolphin Admin Panel > Settings > Advanced Settings > Profiles > Member Thumb Icon | Member Thumb are set to use "Profile Photo" module.

Yes I know that, I would personally remove this setting and remove avatars... There is no need for seperate avatars and the ability to choose between profile pictures or avatars as default... It's complicating things unneccessarily...and I recently found if I move/drag the profile picture in manage profile pictures into the top left position it becomes the main profile picture... but this is not apparent anywhere... I discovered it by accident...

It should be highlighted with an text overlay saying its current profile pic... Now does this work the same for covers? It should as users need consistency... But we also need a way of positioning covers and profile pictures so they centred as we would like... And on those manage pages it would be nice to have some sort of instruction to let people know how to change the current selected picture. In fact it would be nice to have those manage pages in the page builder so we can add or rearrange to our liking...

Also it would be nice to have the html multiple file uploader everywhere like in events, ads, groups everywhere as default... Actually the mod developer ibdw has the best photo uploader I ever seen you should ask them if they would submit their code... Although a few bugs may need ironing out...

Just a little tip for developers,

i used to be a c++ programmer and what I noticed is that programmers have complex minds, my collegues would make things more complex then they needed to be, they were amazed that I could make things so complex work so simple... anyway the point being programmers often create applications with many features which end up being complex to users, as they have the idea that users will understand it as they do, but the key is it put the complexity in the programming so that the user interface becomes simple... almost self explanatory... The interface must be so self explanatory that even a four year old could work with it and understand it... This is where Apple has excelled for this very reason...

i hope you don't mind the tips ;)
