Profile Comments

I'm having a problem figuring this out.  I currently disabled "Free Mode" on my site because I don't want Guests viewing links on the homepage.  A user from my site emailed me and was telling me she can't leave comments on other member's profiles.  I went back and enabled "Free Mode" and now she was able to.  The only problem is now Guests can view links, photos, etc.  Even though there's an "Add Comment" action under the standard membership, the standard member can't do it.  Basically, the "Add Comment" link doesn't show.  Am I missing something?  I want them to be able to add comments and the same time limit the visitors to no access to almost everything unless they register.

Work perfect for me, Dol 6.1.2,

Admin/Advanced Settings/Enable Comments for profiles => is this checked?

Admin --> Settings --> Membership Levels --> MembershipTypes --> select Standard

Look at the Membership Actions -->

Be sure the proper actions are set for Standard Member and restrict them for NON-Member BEFORE taking the site out of FREE mode.

To restrict a non member, go to membership levels, non-member ---> then can/ can`t do.... then remove post comments.

Hello Nurke,

I did that some time ago and it didn't work. Any Idea?

This issue was a bug up until 6.1.2. version came out...

If you still have a problem restricting nonmembers, the other option would be to do what Facebook did. Nonmembers can not see anything. The first page shows join or login....

To do it, go to admin--->builders---->Navigation menu bulider--->and click on each light blue colored blocks(home, members, videos, music, phoros, chat and so on) and unclick "visible to guests.

Then click on Page Builders ---->you will see bunch of links on top of the page(Homepage, account, shared music...).

Click on homepage and you will see all the blocks on homepage. Do the sam thing, unclick visible for guests(visitors).

Leave only login box to be visible for members and visitors and to make it look nicer(even), maybe site stats or anuthing else.

That way, who ever comes to your page all they can do is to login or sign up.

Or maybe try to whork on membership levels using firefox instead of IE. sometimes, nothing is saved in admin panel when using Internet explorer.

I hope this helps

HMMM I just read your question again...

Instead of Admin --> Settings --> Membership Levels --> MembershipTypes --> select Standard -->try selecting Non-Member and you will see all actions nonmember can do....then just click delete on each action you dont want them to be able to do.

If you want to add some action for nonmembers, than use scroll down box and choose what action to add. When you click Delete action you are not deleting it completely, you are just removing allowed actions...
