Problem with upgrade some modules

Hello, I have problem with upgrade some modzzz modules. I upgrade my Dolphin to 7.2 and now I can't upgrade modzzz modules. Because as I found out, it was necessary to update the modzzz modules first (on older version Dolphin), and only then update Dolhpin. What should I do in this situation? I will note that it has already contacted the modzzz on this, but it did not help. I expect some help / instructions what to do now.

Find the installer.php in the /install folder.

Edit (comment out) four lines like this, (your adding //)

//$this->addHtmlFields (array ('POST.desc', 'REQUEST.desc'));
//$this->updateEmailTemplatesExceptions ();

and towards the bottom find,

//$this->removeHtmlFields ();
//$this->updateEmailTemplatesExceptions ();

Once you change these files you should be able to remove the modules. You need to back up your data for the modules. You also can re-install them but I suggest you don't.

Remove the incompatibles and re-install the updated ones you downloaded from the market.

You need to back up your data for the modules.

This is important, do this as the first step.  If you uninstall the modules, all the database tables for that module will be removed along with the data and content.

To get the data back after installing the new module you will need to import the data back into the database tables.  If you are unsure about doing this work, I suggest getting someone to do it for you.

Modzzz is good about answering emails; however, with the current workload of upgrading modules it may take a few days for him to respond.

Anyone reading this post would get the impression that areavis contacted me for help and I did not respond, however that is not the case here. This user has quite a number of modules which are not up to date. There are several patches that need to be applied. He went ahead and update the site to Dolphin 7.2 without first bringing the modules up to date to their latest versions. Now there is a problem trying to apply those patches that were meant for a Dolphin 7.1 site to a Dolphin 7.2 site. He contacted me and I quoted him a small fee to go through each module and make the necessary adjustments to the patches in order to bring the site up to date but he does not think he should pay for the time I will take to do that. The end result is this post. Anyway, I spent unpaid time yesterday and updated his site so this issue has been dealt with.

Please note that the problem here has nothing to do with updating modules to Dolphin 7.2. This is a case of update patches not applied to specific modules. With the exception of probably four modules, my entire portfolio of over 200+ modules have been updated to Dolphin 7.2 and the support forum for each module has instructions on how to update the modules smoothly without uninstalling !

Standard modus operandi for a lot of Dolphin users, it seems.  They cant' be bothered to do a little research on the proper way do do things, then they blame module vendors for their own self-inflicted problems.  The part that irks me, is when they expect FREE labor to fix problems they created themselves.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

Modzz, no one in the community would have blamed you for not updating the modules; there was nothing wrong with asking for compensation to do the work  However, you went ahead and did so for free which shows the calibre of developer you are; our hats off to you.
