Problem with ray widget suite

heya guys, hope you can help me with this one.

I've installed dolphin with ray and orca, latest version.

everything went fine, but now in the admin panel, when i click on

plugins and then click on ray suite, nothing happens,

same on the website, when i click on chat, it just shows a blank page.

Orca is just working fine.

what should i do? did i do something wrong during installation?

thanks,

Vitko

 Cao Vitko.

Ti sigurno znas srpski :)

Ako imas problema sa ovim stvarima, onda mislim da je mozda problem u tvom flash izdanju.

Mozda ti je flash 10 u browseru putem kojeg si instalirao delfina.

Probaj izbrisati flash 10 i instaliraj stariju verziju i onda probaj uci u admin, zatim tamo gdje je chat itd, i probaj ponovo nanovo instalirati flash.

Mozda pomogne,

Pozz

yeach, may be this guy forget to chmod one or more files based on instructions during installation
Quote · 23 Feb 2009

nope, i've installed dolphin + ray more than once, and i never forgot any file,

using older versions of flash player doesnt help either.

maybe i should switch to another host, currently im at hostupon.

any suggestions? its driving me nuts :(

Im hosting two forums and galleries on host papa, tried my dolphin on it too, and ive quickly learned that hosting dolphin is just not the same, even if your host makes dolphin work, it wont work properly if its not on a host that says it does dolphin, RMS support is very important too. Ive just swithced my dolphin to joombyte and the difference is just amazing. On host papa nothing worked, video didnt work, chat cams didnt work, IM didnt work, presence didnt work.... Now it all works.

Sounds like this is your host, which im sure is brilliant for websites and forums, but dolphin is different to host.

Regards

Tyke

hostupon only runs shared servers, been through this conversation with them, which puts you at the mercy of them setting the server your on in a manner that will satisfy the majority of the customers.  Move your site to a host that is ready and willing to run Dolphin and you'll be fine.

Look at your ray/modules/global/inc/header.inc.php file and make sure the settings are correct.  I had this problem last night and after about 5 hours of messing with it I finally got it to work.

The problem with me was the "install" of Ray did not setup the directories correct and there appeared to be a line missing from this file.

This is the line that was missing....

include("/absolutepath/inc/header.inc.php";

absolutpath is the directory path to your dolphin install (eg. /usr/var/public_html/dolphin).  The inc/header.inc.php is the dolphin's header.inc.php and not Rays.  This line is the first line after the comments at the top of the file, around line 10.

Next Ray inserted the directory names into the following variables.  I changed them back to what they originally were when I installed the full dolphin package (dolphin + orca + ray).  Make sure yours looks like this:

/**
* General Settings
* URL and absolute path for the Ray location directory.
*/

$sRootPath = $dir['root'];
$sRootURL = $site['url'];
$sRayHomeDir = "ray/";

$sHomeUrl = $sRootURL . $sRayHomeDir;
$sHomePath = $sRootPath . $sRayHomeDir;

This got me past the blank screen.  I had further problems with Ray after this but that is a different subject for another time.

If you get past the blank screen but then get a popup with a white background and two words "Not Installed" let me know and I go into how I fixed that on my system.
