Privacy options

It seems like the platform does not respect the privacy options. Even when disabling certain block from public view (unchecking the "guests" box) visitors are still able to access the blocks in question.

There should be an option allowing members to completely hide their profiles and content from public view (thereby not even allowing for Google to index their profiles). Furthermore, members should be able to have the option to be seen/searched/contacted by their contacts only, members only, or nobody.

Is this possible?

Please report with accurate details (page name, block name... privacy level... guest or logged member...).

I will create a ticket (bug report) as soon as I will have some more precision ;-)

I did already read a forum topic about Privacy level and Blog...

Sorry, a noob in the forums here.

It all boils down to the fact that users must have total control over their privacy settings. Such is becoming the standard in all major social networks and we should not play catch up to the various laws that are increasingly affecting this matter.

I have tried all privacy settings available in the latest beta release, and none really provide 100% privacy. It might not be a bug, just that the feature is not there--at least not on my test-beta-site.

Suggestion: I know it is a forum platform, not a social network, but the Dolphin developers should take a deep look at Invision Power Board (latest release). The most stable and rock-solid script I have worked with (been with them since 2006). The ACP is just crystal clear and the thing does what it promises. They also have nailed down an easy user experience (usability).

There are several moderation features missing on D7, as well....

Bottom line is, I love what this script promises to do, but after a long year battling with the previous version and looking at how D7 (beta) is progressing....

Anyway, privacy is a major issue for some of us as our countries' institutions are becoming more and more aggressive when it comes to data protection, so I really would like to see clear, easy to implement privacy settings in the base script. Same goes for being able to moderate every inch of the site--having to hire a modder to do the job is getting a bit old.

100 % correct. IN Europe the levels for data protection are very high. This is also for every aspect of a website where personal data is used or collected.

So its needed that the user of a website has complete control over his own personal data!
Look at social engine (not free) who has a very interesting privacy control settings. The user can control every aspect of the his data on the site.

I'm having some problems now.. I seem to have made sure everything I could tweak in the Administration section has been tweaked so that guests cannot access.. yet thumbnails in albums still show up and I need that to be blocked from guests as well..
