Is there any way for members of groups to get notification of new topics posted?

For example, is there a script that would create a popup when you logged in if there was a new post in one of the groups you are a member of?

I have found  nothing to this at the moment.

It's too bad there isn't a mod out there that would automatically send group members an email if a new topic were posted in a group setting....our groups seem to get neglected because people forget to check them.  I would like to see the possibility to add events and classifieds to an individual group too.  There is so much potential!  I wish I wasn't so busy...I'd try and figure it out myself...maybe I'll still try!  LOL
