Post-installation error ( "[L[Forums Index]" )

Greetings!  Wonder if anyone can help me.  I've just installed Dolphin and Orca.  On my forums, my headings look like this.  Any tips on getting rid of the [L[  ]]  bits?  Thanks!  -h

If only the Boonex crew would add a search function to this forum.......Anyhow, click the little "en" on your page and you will be good.

Signed,

Reginald

P.S.  Yes Pundits, I know there is a search function.

This comes up about once a week.  It seems to be the first problem people run into after an otherwise successful installation, so they post it here.  If someone starts a FAQ (maybe in wiki format)  - this should be one of the first things on it.

Quote · 6 Oct 2008

Ah, sorry.  And wow.  That's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.  Why don't they just toggle that setting by default, eliminating the problem?  Appreciate the answer.

This worked fine on the page your were talking about but it seems to appear ([L[Message]] etc) on at least one other page (Group Forum) where there is no "en" link to comile from.

Also the body of the group forum div has a white background with white text.

from the url this is /groups/orca/topic/ and you get there by trying to view a topic from a group page

While logged in as admin, you will find "en" to click & compile orca in groups by going to www.yourdomain.com/groups/orca

I have done all that has been pointed out in a few documents.

While logged in as admin, found "en" and aslo in www.yourdomain.com/groups/orca

I still get a 404 when i click on Post Topic in Groups.

It takes me to
yourdomain.com/groups/orca/forum/Bully-Boys-Bull-Dog-Bar-0.htm#action=goto&new_topic=Bully-Boys-Bull-Dog-Bar

it should take me to

yourdomain.com/groups/orca/#forum/Bully-Boys-Bull-Dog-Bar-0.htm#action=goto&new_topic=Bully-Boys-Bull-Dog-Bar

You can see the only difrence is there is a # in the /#forum/ part.

Can anyone tell me in plain english how to fix this as i have tried every thing.

I have successfully compiled (or at least a green text message pops up saying the language file was compiled) the language file in the Dolphin Admin panel AND compiled ORCA as described in this thread, going to www.domain.com/orca and it looks like it works but the Field Headers still show the "[L[*****]" labels. Any ideas to try?

Guys, I am actually getting the same error. I have compiled the forum in the Language section under the Dolphin Admin AND compiled the language according to this post. I still have the:

[L[Forums Spy]]

Can't seem to post, can't change anything...not sure what's going on.

I have done a search via google of the Boonex forums, but I don't seem to find the information I'm looking for.

Please take a look: http://www.blackhawkunlimited.com/orca/

Anyway...I realize it's a PITA question, but I would appreciate any help.

Check also if your servers php is compiled with XSLT - Orca need this enabled!! also Mbstring..
Or use the trac-wiki - orca.
And use Firefox v3 or higher for administration tasks....

Thanks for the help before. I didn't dream that the default installation would be looking in the wrong freaking folder. I figured it out. Thanks!

So I compiled languages in /groups/orca in Firefox, and that worked out fine for Orca groups in Firefox, but IE7 was still showing [L[Sticky]] tags. So I thought to myself that I should try compile langauge from Internet Explorer to make it work here, but instead I got this:

Fatal error: Class 'Mistake' not found in /groups/orca/classes/da/BxDb.php on line 23

Then I went back to Firefox and tried to compile here again, but now got the error: "language files compilation have been failed'. And after that I also got the fatal error page in Firefox...

I can still reach /orca and language compile here, but groups/orca doesn't work

Any ideas????

Maybe I have chmod permissions problem, because I'm using a Dolphin mod with phpBB3 forum which hasn't guided me to Orca folder/files permissions.

Someone can please tell me what the chmod settings for Orca and Groups needs to be???

Quote · 19 Mar 2009

Haha... if you think that is fun... i have so many things on my site that won't load. I have the same problem but i can't even compile it. nothing happens. ray is dead... boonex news doesnt load, shoutbox doesnt load, and the forum post block doesnt load. I even get an error using this forum.  XML read failure 12029 there was a problem receiving the xml data:

I'm interested in how you are using the PHPBB3 forum with Dolphin. I reckon its a far more comprehensive forum set up than orca and if I could use it with Dolphin then it may be easier.

Cheers

That post was over 3 years ago so they might have been using Dolphin 6.X

The password encryption on 7.X makes it impossible to carry over any current Dolphin members to phpBB. If you installed them both from scratch it's possible with heavy modifications.

If only it were that easy for me! I'm clicking on the en and nothing happens.

Also the Edit, Delete andf folder options are not doing anything which means I can't create any forums.

Is this symptomatic of another issue?

First of all I want to thank everyone for providing such good information on fixing the lanuage problem, It was a very simple fix.

However,

All of the wording is in white text and the description bars that should be behind them is not there. I saw that this was mentioned in the thread earlier, but I never saw a fix posted.

Anyone have another simple fix for this one also?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

I just want to post my experience about this problem that maybe can help who have same issue.

I've install dolphin 7.0.9 with orca forum and everything run fine.

Then i install a custom template and weird  [L[anything]] appear everywhere try to disabling cache compile language everywhere but issue remain, with original template no problem so i connect with ftp manager and i  delete language file in custom_en  carpet  in forum layout and i've copy inside of it the file of original uni_en that i've precompiled after installation, then the issue disappear i've do the same for other language and work it.

Sorry for my english i know is not so good.
