Please suggest a quality Dolphin web host

I am inches away from moving my 1-week old Dolphin 7 site to a new web host.

Recommendations, public or private, will be appreciated.

The main issue is that I cannot send Invite e-mails, and today I did not get the automated  maintenance e-mail.

Their "fix" on Friday was to set me up on Google Apps, and point their MX records to that. Worked on Saturday, but not Sunday.

I also discovered an error message on Saturday suggesting they did not do the MX record set up correctly. Today, they demanded my admin password!!!!!!!! to find out what I had done wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the nerve!!!!!!

I'll let you know when I move.

here's what happens when my web host in Europe receives an e-mail from the admin > SMTP Mailer Tester:

From:  "admin@(mynotpublicdomain)"@, UNEXPECTED_DATA_AFTER_ADDRESS@.SYNTAX-ERROR.

Gmail web mail hides the From admin@, and instead cuts via node.my host.  Gmail help says:

Why am I seeing "via" followed by a domain1 name next to the sender's name?

Gmail detected that the email was sent via another mail service. This means that the sender may be using a third-party email service to generate this message. For example, the message may have been sent through a social networking site which offers an email service or sent through a mailing list that you’re subscribed to.

Gmail displays this information because many of the services that send emails on behalf of others don’t verify that the name that the sender gives matches that email address. We want to protect you against misleading messages from people pretending to be someone you know.

BUT, my Apple Mail App POPing the message displays the correct From.

Yahoo rejects it altogether.

I'm sure hotmail will reject it too.

What I want to know is why they thought setting you up on Google Apps was a good idea in the frst place...

Quoting from the Ticket:

We have reviewed the error messages you provided us with and the mail boxes for these. Indeed some of the remote servers has blocked the e-mails from our MTA IP. The options we may offer you are:

1. You may order dedicated IP For your account which will be configured for your e-mails delivery only. This way if any remote server block your IP it will not caused from e-mails you have sent and the information to prevent it should be provided from the remote server.

2. We will setup GoogleApps account for your domain free of charge. This will route your e-mails through google and they are usually not getting blacklisted because of the enormous number of mailing accounts they have and the extremely complex spam filtering system they have created. Unfortunately they will not provide any information about this spam filtering system which is the reason it is not available on any other mail service provider or web hosting provider.

3. The third option is to allow up to 7 business days for all the blacklists to be contacted and requests for the IP removal placed. Unfortunately some of the blacklists in question will not respond fast and it may take a couple of weeks for them to provide us with the reason for the blacklisting and restore the IP reputation.

Let us know which option you would prefer.

So I picked Door #2. Google Apps.

So in Invite A Friend, even if I set my From to my @gmail address, not admin@mydomain, Yahoo never delivers it to me. But gmail does and my web host in Europe does.

Nick,

This topic interests me, I am a newbie that is so green i glow from space. I recently bought prime and have been looking at web hosting for boonex and am curious as to who you would suggest. I have looked at the certified  providers here and don't know if there is a difference between them. Your honesty is appreciated.

If you want the best, then you go with someone that actually runs and works with dolphin on a regular basis themselves. Based on posts that i see here in these forums on a regular basis, it appears to me that none of the listed hosts understand dolphin.

So go with someone who does. See this topic. http://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/Dolphin-Hosting-from-Root-Baron.htm

The people who run that hosting company actually use dolphin personally themselves. They work with it, they know it, they know the requirements.

Thanks deano92964 for the guidance. I read that tread and it was very helpful. Yet another example of such a great community!

I'm sorry that I have been away for a month, busy doing some travel in the UK.

I am catching up on Dolphin, thinking about bringing my unpublished site up to current versions of Dolphin and mods.

And switching hosts.

If anyone would like to update thoughts now a couple of months later, I'm getting ready.

Thanks... (and looking for setup config help and marketing help after that)

I still stick with my previous recommendation.

I would stay clear of ANY hosting company that says you'll get unlimited disk space and bandwidth for $3.88 per month. What's even worse, is I can't even connect to their site, which is only 3 months old, lol.

This sounds more like someone flogging their own reseller hosting

Nexhosting, www.nexhosting.ca  is the best company for Boonex hosting. At $3.88 per month which includes unlimited band with and disk space and 100% up time, you can't go wrong.  What I live about them is they deal with boonex related problems and if their is a problem, they work with you to try and resolve that problem.

They will not just suspend your account because their is a issue, but they will contact you and help you to resolve it. They also offer VPS hosting for only $7.88 per month.
