Photos & Videos not active

hi,

photos, videos, music and classifieds are not active after installation why?

did i missed something to install? Smile

I drop all tables and reinstall dolphins.

I tried to to used php.ini instead of .htaccess because Y hosting would not accept .htaccess.

No need reinstall anything.

Which problem are you have? - what you mean - not active?

by default - site in free mode and all active here

the code in root  .htaccess wasn't uploaded to Y hosting because they didn't accept .htaccess.

question: is there any alternative solution to .htaccess without changing site hosting?

If your host not accept .htaccess, how it can accept another htaccess? lol

Yes, this is right .htaccess . It show all info about permalinks. As default many parts in dilphin works by permalinks, But if your host can`t work with it - just disable permalinks.

I'm not sure what you are saying. These don't get created during installation. They do get uploaded during installation.

They most likely are there, but when browsing your site you get a 404 error or similiar due to the rewrite rules in .htaccess.

Some hosts on occasion you can't see .htaccess but it is actually there. On rare occasions you can actually upload a .htaccess to your account and it will take, even though you can't see it.

If not there are plenty of hosts you can go with that are relatively reasonable pricing from $5-$8 per month. You really can't beat that. What is that like a gallon of gas, or a couple cups of coffee. No need to spend big bucks only a couple of dollars per month. Look out for them free ones, or $2 per month deals that's when you run into problems.

.htaccess was not uploaded in Yhoo hosting...

is there any alternative to .htaccess? or rewrite rules?

Quote · 29 Sep 2008

All mod rewrite rules usually works via .htaccess file. Or php.ini

No other way

Your server probably doesn't accept .htaccess files (folder configuration files). In this case, refer to your hosting provider for a reference what it should be replaced with.

Not too familiar with yahoo hosting, but I vaguely remember reading something about limited or no .htaccess. Sounds kind of like the basic godaddy accounts and a number of others.

Your best bet would be to switch to another host. For a couple of $'s and I'm not talking much you will gain access to all features of dolphin. You will do away with most if not all problems. Be sure to do your home work, look around and pick a known working host. Contact me if you wish I will fill you in on my picks for hosting, which I have had 0 issues with. And for a few $'s per month.

Hosting info:

PHP Version 4.3.11
FreeBSD 4.11
MySQL 4.1.14

Configuration File (php.ini) Path /usr/lib/php/php4.ini

ok I try to replace .htaccess to php.ini... guys is there any tips and additional tweaks on how to convert .htaccess to php.ini?

my last option is disable permalinks and edit manually the links, if this is correct?

what about the .htaccess in subfolers?

all I need is familiarization Smile

I did quick reinstallation to root but the php.ini didn't worked.

so plan B: permalinks remove, links adjustments and now it works.
