Photo Cropping Issue

I have a self-inflicted problem with photo cropping and hopefully it's easily resolved.

The photo cropping feature isn't brilliant, but it's certainly better than nothing. As one would expect, it requires the original photo to be present, but I've set up Dolphin to delete the original as soon as a photo is uploaded. My reasoning is this: Modern cameras produce photos between 1.5 and 5 megapixels. Working on an average of 2 megapixels, I'm saving 1 gigabyte for every 500 photos posted. On a large site, that's a massive saving.

I need to recode the cropping section to crop  _m photos instead. Although this won't be a perfect solution, i'm mainly concerned with profile photos and the loss in quality will be minimal.

I'm not using the Avatar module.

All help appreciated.

It's not quite clear what you mean by "recode the cropping section" could you please elaborate more on this ?

Hi Alex and thanks for the response.

I'm using the attached code I found on the forum some time ago to delete the original photo at the time of uploading.

From what I can see, when you click the Crop Action button, it attempts to load the original photo. I can see why it does this because it's always better to crop an original.

However the original doesn't exist,so when I click crop, I get an endless spinning wheel indicating that the photo can't be located.

I need to change the code so that the Action button selects the _m photo so that it can be cropped instead.

I'm not sure where to make that change as many files seem to be involved with the crop process.

Regards

John
