People Search Location Fields

I can't seem to get the location part of the 'people search' to work.  I have a google maps api and country/zip code fields for member registration - to ensure geocode can work.  I have also enabled only the country and location field options for the 'search profiles' in the admin panel.  Whenever I input into the 'miles' and 'from zip/postal code' fields in the 'search people' location fields, I get zero returns when there are profiles that I know should be displayed.  Thanks for any help.

Have you got the Zip Code Search module installed? You haven't mentioned it.

Thanks johnk42 for your reply...  Yes, the Zip Code Search module is installed, enabled, and set for Google geocoding.
