A lot of topic do seem to end up that way if they run long enough.  There is no moderator to prevent hijacking the thread.

I hope PKForum doesn't behave this way

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

We noticed and learned.  Our license tracking server is in the cloud with a reputable provider that guarantees excellent uptime... but even if the license server went down it would not affect PKF licenses for several days... enough time to bring the server back online.  Plus each license owner will have an account on our Activation Server so they can manage their license(s), including moving them from one domain to another whenever they want to.

I also have the payment module you're referring to and have experienced the frustrations whenever his tracking server went down and whenever I wanted to move the module to another domain name... but was forced to wait for the developer to do it."

I was excitedly looking forward to the release of PKForum before this bit of news.  What if you go out of business and there is no licensing server; will you put in the licensing if that happens I am free to hack out your licensing bits so my forum does not go down?  What if your licensing is down for a week, then my forum would go down.  This is what I don't like about licensing tied to some server out of my control.  There has to be a solution other than depending on a server.

As explained above, PayPal does not like adult content - not all Dolphin sites can make use of PayPal, and that is not the fault of any developer or their extension. You should make sure your site does not violate a payment gateway's terms before buying an extension to use it.

Please message me about the developer so I can at least make sure they're around. But I'm afraid they're not required to issue a refund, as there's no issue with the extension itself. This is a policy issue with PayPal. As for licenses and selling market spoils, please consult the license text on the market entry.

Ok let me clear this up,

First, If we ever go out of business we will release a license free version before dying.

Second, You are not allowed to edit the encoded bits of licensing/activation code in the "module" but if DH ever dies then "who cares".

Third, Even if verification of your license fails for more than a week, it will only affect the admins of the site i.e. You will not be able to make any forum settings changes or use the forums as admins. Normal users wouldn't even notice anything.

Forth and last, Its hosted on DigitalOcean so its really pretty unimaginable that it will go down for even a whole day but a failover to another server in another datacenter will be added soon too.

so much to do....
