Pages Module

I thought HL made this module [edit] Pages_1.0.4 a while back http://www.boonex.com/m/pages

Now it is for sale, in the market, by a BoonEx "Master Gunner" for $49 dollars and plugins

This is just another example to show us where the actual BoonEx programmers/agents

are spending their time, ripping us off.

Just another kick in the balls, no wonder HL left..

 It wouldn't be right if I didn't step in and say this-

I asked Anton if he would develop this for the market....

I also requested the whole separate plugins thing.....I thought it would be cool to have plugins we could add as we see fit, and would open a door on the market for people to develop plugins for Pages that worked like mini-apps, giving members ways to do more with the Pages they create.

The reason I asked Anton specifically, is because I love Profile Composer and the idea that members can drag'n'drop their block into any position they wish, and create their own custom blocks.....Basically- anything and everything possible to give members more ability to easily create Pages as they see fit.

This would not have come to pass with HL's version, I don't think. I think it's cool he offered it up for free.....But there's a limit as to how much a Free module can or will be supported when it's free and by whom. But a Market module which is paid for IS fully supported by the developer/vendor.......

.....Ahhhhhh *****With Some Exceptions**** -------->The main reason I asked for this, is because ever since 7.1 came about, Multi-Page Creator has not been supported as it should......The mod has gone backward, and still has no Forum for it. I'm still wishing that all the bugs would get worked out.....and on and on and on. *****Some of us paid a pretty penny for that mod****

SO....Anton has offered up a very, very fair- $49 for the Pages module that has a helluva lot of kick-ass options, and a very affordable $9 a pop for little plugins for us to add-in.

I hope people can totally respect and appreciate the fact that Anton listens to ideas and requests from little pee-ons like myself and develop affordable mods like this for the market. Lord knows- I wouldn't have been able to afford for him to develop this for me privately.....

NOW FOR THE ICING----> If you think THIS feels like a kick in the balls......How do you suppose Anton feels about the idea that I haven't yet purchased his Pages module....and instead FIRST purchased Modzzz's Pages Module?

Don't get me wrong- I WILL HAVE BOTH.....I like different things about each of them and have been playing with them and may settle on one or the other....OR more likely- offer one up as Standard Pages and the other as Premium Pages for members.....Whatever.

But if I were Anton, I would be like- WTF? You ask for this....I make it....and then you go out and buy the other one? GEEE THANKS!

But No, Instead- Anton has been incredibly gracious and helpful since then.

So I'm not trying to be an ass or argumentative- I would feel bad if I didn't say anything....

Anton has been nothing but a great and giving developer in my eyes.

I have to add my two cents. I wish HL was here to voice his opinion. I am sure he would be more then disgusted that Anton did not offer up his module for Pages, unlike Andrew that added Pages to his modules for free. For example, if you buy Andrews Group timeline, Page timeline is included. Same with Group Photo, Group scheduler, Group blog and Group News, I am missing one most likely, but each one comes with Page module for free.  Why would Anton offer up if you buy my Profile composer, I will give you page composer for free. That was the whole gist of HL's module. He was interested in making a product for free to show Boonex how easy it would be to add this to the base product. His example was what Boonex stood for with Open Source contribution. Sorry but I think that Anton maybe crossing that fine line. I have several of his modules and no doubt he is a fine programmer. I just think he could have added to the Page module not over run it.

Wait, I think the waters might be getting a bit cloudy here...

Correct me if I'm wrong....

There first was Multi-Page Creator....Support from Scriptologist.

Then later came HL's Free Pages....

Then Andrew developed modules that would work also with HL's Free Pages...because HL's Pages was cloned from Groups so why not spring-board off of it to sell his mods? If your Pages have problems, who's problem is it? Andrew or HL's? How will a noob know?

Then Came Anton's Version of Pages that was coded differently and added Plug-ins to work with his Pages which are different from HL's and Multi-Page Creator...with additional coding for drag'n'drop and custom blocks and managing those blocks....And support from ABQ

Meanwhile, at the very same time as Anton is working on a Pages module, Modzzz is also working on his Pages module which is also different from all other Pages modules....Modzz's Page Module has built-in Widgets that can be toggled on and off for things like News, Blogs, Event, Sponsors, Testimonials, etc....And support from Modzzz

Each Pages module is different and suits the tastes of different buyers....Each should develop to offer the most functionality to satisfy the wants and needs of the buyers/market.

Is it not a GOOD thing to have multiple developers offering different options for a similar and same need for the Market?

I actually like the idea that I can have more than one Pages option....

Along with this one must consider- Can I run 2-3 Pages modules on the same site?

I'm not sure how HL's Pages comes out here, but his project was aimed at re-naming Groups to Pages...Will a Group clone interfere with any of the above? WHICH?

My main point I guess is- I think its great that we have multiple Pages mods to choose from, as it challenges everyone to push THEIR version of Pages to the next level.

Is this not good for the Market?

Or should just one developer be able to make Pages and the community gets whatever they decide to give us?

Basically, that's what the situation was before HL began his project.

Bottom line for me is-

If folks want Free Pages and Add Andrew's Groups, Blogs, and other Add-On modules- GREAT! That's Awesome!

If folks want to buy Anton's Pages, be able to embed websites, custom blocks, drag'ndrop blocks, and add his Plugins which have been coming out consistently as ABQ codes them- SWEET! That's Awesome too!

If they like the idea of having the ability to create custom fields, HTML Blocks, and have integrated Widgets for blogs, events, news, comments, testimonials, etc..., and other things Modzzz will add to his Pages- WooHoo! That's Awesome too!

If people want Scriptologist's Pages and be able to embed websites, create custom form fields, and add his Timeline/Wall for Pages, Blogs, Groups, Events, etc.....RIGHT-ON!!!

We are being given many different options to choose from, and this is good for the market, YES?

I don't think anyone is getting over-run....All have their own benefits and downsides.

Is there not- POINTS by Andrew, Anton, Modzzz?

How is this any different?

D-8 Will come out, and it will have PAGES.....Which will they use?

I hope they use the one that offers the most FREEDOM to create.
