Page Builder "BLOCKS Stuck on Loading" Help

I thought everything was working fine...I installed Dolphin without a hitch , I installed a template and everything was fine...So then I go to page builders and is stuck on "LOADING" for an hour now........

Whats up?

Your page builder blocks and your database don't match up.  Did you back up your database and your files before you added any mods?   You should look at your database table PageBuilder and see if anything there has changed like New_block or anything strange.  Remove those (AFTER backing up this table) and see if that doesn't correct your problem.  I am of course assuming that all worked fine PRIOR to any mods.  The page builder has had issues working in all browsers in the past.  Don't know if that is the case now.

Do you have compressed files?  Check inc/js/classes/BxDolMenu.js (check it's file size against your install zip package and make sure they are the same)

I checked they are both 21968 in size

well this is wierd...on the server that file is 21968  in the zip file it is 21968 but the file on my local drive before i uploaded it to server is only 22kb..hmmm

So you have the same file/directories installed on server then?

Maybe there is an issue with the access file

I followed all the directions to install dolphin , if there is an issue I cant imagine how it could be seeing that i followed the directions to a T ...

I don't even know where to begin

So did I but it didn't install that directory so I had to manually install it. Once that was done - hey presto!

well the directory/file exist both locally and remotely on the server paths are all the same....I just reverted back to the dolphin default theme and the problem still persist...........

how can i check my access to see if it's right?

there is a difference between that file like i said earlier....IN the zip file it is the same size as it is on the server.. However in the directory on my local drive where i extracted it , it's only 22 kb

Can you get into your Ray Suite Admin panel? I know this sounds a little weird, but I heard issues about Flash Player 10.0 have problems. If you have version 10 then I would suggest loading version 9.0.

Just a hunch, especially if you cannot access the Ray Suite Admin area.

I guess im gonna have to go back to using SMF with Tiny portal...Oh well I tried...Now if i can get my money back from the theme i purchased.....

  1. Okay, you guys have tried to be helpful to him, but your just not hitting on it all the way.   The issue he's having is pretty simple, it's just a Nav Menu Bldr not loading.  To fix do the following:

1.  Check Permissions of all files:  Folders are 0777 Permissions to be writable & Files are 0666 to be writeable.  If you used an auto installer or you have your server configured with suPHP then it might note a 755 & 644 as writeable even though they are not.

2.  Check inc/classes/BxDolMenu.php & inc/js/BxDolMenu.js  Notes:  Just because size is exact does not mean the file is uncompressed, go ahead and load a fresh copy of each.  Also note, 22KB is the same as 21968 bytes (it's just rounding it to 22KB, it's actually 21.968 KB)

3.  If this is still not working then look at this:

  1. Did you have to run any files when you installed your new template (theme) besides just uploading it via FTP and then going to Admin -> Settings -> Advanced Settings and selecting it?
  2. What all directories did you upload?  It should of been templates/tmpl_uni/ directory, perhaps templates/base/directory and that is it, unless you have a template switcher installed then it would have a new templates/base/_header.html & a inc/js/styleswitch.js files.  But that is it for templates, anything else and you've gotten a bad template to begin with.

4.  To clean up a bad template install do the following:

  1. Delete the files you uploaded
  2. Upload a fresh set of file from your Dolphin
  3. Go to admin-> Settings -> Advanced settings and verify the bad template is gone.

As far as your statement that Dolphin has limited upgrades/themes, I have no idea what your looking at, but that's a very untrue statement.  In reality, there are 1000's of upgrades and templates that you can utilize on Dolphin.  I have demo & production dolphin sites that all run hundreds of modifications on them, some custom and some available for purchase.  People like Anton, DolphinMods, Aramis, eSASe and many others have made this an awesome script.  It's literally the most functional and piable software for social networking on the market.

A good question though:  What version of Dolphin are you trying to run and where did you get this template?

OK so i deleted everything and did a fresh install, decided to give it one more chance...And PRESTO it is working now...I didnt do anything different this time then i did yesterday so i really don't understand what the problem was..

So where are all these themes templates and add ons you are talking about? i did a search around here and didnt find anything really good.

IM intersted in php blocs , script blocs , html blocks , internet radio media player blocks ( i saw the radio player here and it sucks).. I have my own shoutcast server so any shoutcast blocks would be cool . Also any flash slide show blocks and really sleek themes.

Can someone point me ? IM willing to pay a little bit for premium stuff but not much , Free is always better.

BTW im using the version of dolphin that is availbe for download on thier front page now..I dont think its 7 I think its the prior version to 7

FYI i want my site to look sorta like this with a flash header very similiar : http://radiorecord.ru

also would be cool if i could find some music chart scripts and rss blocks that load album art and stuff too.

Hi

I have read every single post on this page builder problem... have reinstalled the files, changed permissions as stated in other posts, checked file sizes and the thing still does not work...

I have been at this for two days now and it is driving me a little crazy.

I followed the instructions perfectly - the only thing I did notice is when I had to revert permissions on the /inc/ periodic/ and other files to unwritable, and I did as it told me, the installer still said they were writable. There seemed nothing I could do to change this so I skipped this part as I was positive the permissions were as the details installation manual said they had to be.

Please, please somebody help me through this. Should I do a clean install again?

I have loaded no mods or templates - nothing - just the standard package.

Was encountering the same kind of problems with the profile builder under IE8.

Very simple, well it isn't until you try it, but have you pressed the 'Compatibility View' in the IE toolbar? That resolved the problem for me.

I am using Firefox.

When I opened the panel with the Error Consol open it gave me lots of warnings saying : Warning: in parsing value 'filter' and these were for css files.

then it gave another error for : error: BxDolPageBuilder is not defined

source file: http://www.mysite.com/admin/pageBuilder.php?Page=index

I think this is pointing to the /inc/classes/BxDolPageViewAdmin.php file but I can not see where to definae it... do you think I am on the right track?

Just tried it on a PC using IE and it still does not work... it comes with the same error:

error: BxDolPageBuilder is not defined

source file: http://www.mysite.com/admin/pageBuilder.php?Page=index

on line 472 char 7

What is happening and why are so many other people having this problem and no body has definaed the right fix... or even the Boonex guys not posted something about it... Maybe they just want us to pay them to install and they know the fix all the time...

I tried Dolphin a year or so ago and the problem was there then... Looks like this is another non-starter

man this is driving me nuts...

just did another clean install... checked every single file and corrected permissions...

still will not work.

The fields builder works a treat.

out of interest, the boonex news and forum posts on the home page are just whirring too... as well as navigation builder and admin menu builder.

I have checked the Java, looked everywhere on my browser... I know my server is ok (or at least so I am told)... is it a java thing?

I am still getting the same 'not defined' error report.

Please... somebody please help me out!

Are you doing a clean install of D6.1.6 or D7, Im assuming D6 since this is the group you posted in. Here are some things to check regarding the spinning wheel and news/RSS never loading.

Check your php.ini settings and make sure these are set to ON

allow_url_fopen= On

display_errors= On

See if it works for you then.

does your php build have xslt enabled? the forum thing sounds to me like an xslt issue. also do you have any issues in the forums or groups. also, if there is not anything posted, then not really sure what you would be expecting the RSS feeds to grab. on a fresh install  you will still need to add something to the forum in order for it to be served to the front page on RSS.

what is your php build

The Five Types of PHP Configuration That Are Possible:

  • None - Don't provide access to this version of PHP
  • DSO - Provide this version of PHP via libphp4.so or libphp5.so (AKA mod_php). This is normally the fastest possible way to serve PHP requests, but PHP will execute as the user "nobody". If both versions of PHP are available, it is impossible to configure both to be served as DSO unless the concurrent DSO patch was applied at build time.
  • SuPHP - Provide this version of PHP through mod_suphp. This is the most flexible way of serving PHP requests and tends to be very secure. PHP scripts are executed by the user who owns the VirtualHost serving the request.
  • FCGI - Provide this version of PHP through mod_fcgid. This is a very fast way of serving PHP requests, but php.conf will most likely require additional tuning to perform well. If Suexec is enabled, each user will create their own PHP FastCGI server automatically and PHP scripts will be executed by the user who owns the VirtualHost serving the request. If Suexec is disabled, the "nobody" user will own all of the PHP FastCGI server processes and PHP scripts will be executed by the "nobody" user. FCGI mode is recommended only for advanced administrators who understand how to tune the performance of mod_fcgid. Userdir requests will not function correctly with the basic mod_fcgid setup provided by cPanel.
  • CGI - Provide this version of PHP through mod_cgi or mod_cgid. If Suexec is enabled, PHP scripts will be executed by the user who owns the VirtualHost serving the request. If Suexec is disabled, the "nobody" user will execute all PHP scripts. Userdir requrests will not function correctly with the basic CGI setup provided by cPanel. It is intended as a fallback when the other preferred methods (DSO or SuPHP) are not available. Serving PHP as CGI is not particularly secure or fast regardless of whether Suexec is enabled.

at any rate, being that you are having such a problem getting a working version of dolphin to run for you, i would certainly send the hosting service the list of recommended requirements from the developers and ask if they meet all requirements.

One of the issues that I referenced in the past on this is "File Compression" when you upload.  The easiest way to discover this issue is to utilize a code editor such as Notepad++, login to your server via FTP and look at the associated files.  If they appear one 1 or two lines (you'll see this if you use notepad++ as each new line is specifically numbered by your editor).  If you discover a file like this, it will need that specific file re-uploaded to the server.

Check inc/classes/BxDolMenu.php & inc/js/BxDolMenu.js

are the specific files that effect your navigation menu.

For the page builder, take a moment to look at admin/pagebuilder.php and note the files it calls.

Sorry, I have to run at the moment, but I'll take a closer look at this in the morning for pagebuilders specifically and post what I find on it.

set inc/db_cached to 777 temporarily

rename PageView.inc to PageView.inc~ and then load it in the admin

some hosts have auto scripts to set your writables back to non

Thanks guys - I really appreciate the help...

after all it was my crappy hosting! I have set the new site up with Site Ground and all was working in about 5 minutes!!! Wish I had just done it in the first place and not wasted 4 days plus all the effort everybody has put into all the people trying to fix this issue...

Just bite the bullet, spend £35 and get proper hosting!

Hope this helps (and saves time) for all those others out there..

Fasthosts are rubbish... do not use them!
