PNG Logo - logo with transparency

What is the best method to upload a PNG logo? Everytime I try to upload a PNG with transparency, it does not appear correctly. There is wierd stroke around the logo..

Any advice?

It is probably your graphic program is not doing the png properly.  Also make sure you are saving it out as a png and not gif with transparency.

for all images with transparency, I use gif and it works fine for my logos. Not for avatars though.

Professor, look at png images; I feel the transparency is better than gifs and you don't have to worry about the jaggies you sometime get with a gift; there are two resolutions to png if you need a smaller file size.  png is a loseless compression; you won't get the file sizes as small but the images are better quality.

Yes. PNG transparency is far superior to GIF.

I don't really deal with images. I just made a couple of logos for our site, just for the sake of having some that were transparent. The original logo is not transparent and actually more graphically intensive. To me, the quality does not make a different as it is a single color - white - and no internal lines or anything. It works, so that's all that matters - lololol.

I had a problem with this when i started my new site. I never had an issue when i ran windows XP. I now have windows 7 . If I make a logo online and save to my computer. The transparancy seems to disapear when uploaded to server. For some crazy if I simply open in paint.net and resave the transparency will be there . Someone in this forum recommended paint.net to me. Its free and really all i usually need ( i don't do much with images ) .  It's much more user friendly than say GIMP or photoshop , although you cant really do as much. I still keep gimp on my computer but still cuss ever time i do need it lol

I have no idea why this happens but some how it is a dolphin thing . I found that you use the dolphin panel to upload the logo image then via ftp upload your original image to same folder on server and rename it to the picture uploaded via dolphin . I have no idea why dolphin strips the transparency sometimes but it does . It has nothing to do with the program you use to make the image .

Happy thoughts

If dolphin strips transparency the image i too big width or height . Not sure if file size matters but it hasn't given me a problem thus far. My logo is a PNG and is transparent

I have noticed that is you do not check the "allow resizing" box then it will upload the PNG with no problems.
