PHP Code Generators, which do you like?

This post is not Boonex related but this is where all my online smart friends are....

I have been building an application for my company using a code generator called IronSpeed. Of course, it's all Microsoft based being dot net and C#. I HATE it for several reasons. Far too complicated and it requires a Microsoft environment. Way too costly.

I think php/mysql will work perfectly for what I am doing but since I am no coder, I will need to employ a code generator to accomplish my task. I am leaning towards phprunner but have found that there are many choices to choose from. I am hoping my friends here will help me decide on which one produces the best, out of the package site...

I found a list here:

I'm open to any comments except the ones where I should just hire a coder to do ther work for me. I can't afford what it would cost me to do this at this time. Think of it this way, I'm going to create a 'proof of concept' site using the generator and if it works, then I can oblige a code team to create the application using that as an outline....

There are ways around paying for Microsoft OS.

ReactOS® is a free open source operating system based on the best design principles found in the Windows NT® architecture (Windows versions such as Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012 are built on Windows NT architecture). Written completely from scratch, ReactOS is not a Linux based system, and shares none of the UNIX architecture.

The main goal of the ReactOS® project is to provide an operating system which is binary compatible with Windows. This will allow your Windows® applications and drivers to run as they would on your Windows system. Additionally, the look and feel of the Windows operating system is used, such that people accustomed to the familiar user interface of Windows® would find using ReactOS straightforward. The ultimate goal of ReactOS® is to allow you to use it as alternative to Windows® without the need to change software you are used to.

ReactOS is fine as a hobby OS. Recommending it for IT or for a company to use instead of Windows is not fine.

Edit: Bolded "hobby".

I don't know bud i just tried it a vm  and it had 4 blues screens within 10 minutes....   Not for me i guess.

anyway..   phprunner is a pretty good all around app to use i guess.  I know a few others that use it as well.

PHP Runner, rocks. I have been using it for years.. so many I can't remember. They provide unbelievable support and come out with significant updates every year so it pays to continue the maintenance and support agreements.

I can't go on about all the reasons why you would want to use this product. The initial upfront is a little pricey, but you can really do anything with this product and instead of days figuring it out, its hours. Nothing it minutes ;)

They have a fully functional 30 day trial that will allow you to develop a POC for most projects.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

I've run a few phprunner tests on an existing db I have and so far, it's worked pretty well. The one thing I noticed out of the box was the fact that it recognizes your table relationships and builds it's menu tree accordingly. Saves a TON of work as compared to Ironspeed which has a real bad habit of creating a main menu item for every stinking table.... without any regard to the relationships you have created in the DB. This causes a ton of extra work right from the git-go....

I found a couple new ones. One is called SqlMaestro, I uploaded it and tried the free version. Seems ok but then I found another that looked very good. it's called

http://lianja.com/

It looks very appealing plus it has the big plus of being free for personal use..... It also seems to be one of the newest ones out there and has a very unique structure.... One thing I noticed is it will build your DB for you as you develop.....

I'm to old to switch... lol.

However, I am definitely in the process of building my own back end for Dolphin. There just aren't enough management reports, etc.

Just wanted to update everyone. I reviewed almost 30 of these dang things. Seems to be the new product that everyone is trying to copy now. Most didn't make it past 5 minutes of my time. One that I thought was interesting was the Lianja.com product and I might give it a go on a different project in the future. Another was sqlmaestro but even that one fell short after about an hour of fooling with it. (doesn't even come with it's own php test server so you can check your work) but alas, in the end, one won out over all the others.

The products at xlinesoft.com aka phprunner, asprunner and several other well thought out tools. Slightly expensive at $499 per year (there were a lot that were far less money, even free in some cases) but far cheaper than Ironspeed which was running me $249 a month. To be fair, Ironspeed is very well developed and if you already have a base set of skills in dot net, this would be a fabulous tool. If you are like me and have little or no actual coding skills, it's just too much of a learning curve just to accomplish a single task.

The video tutorial section for xlinesoft products is where the system really shined. Straight forward, to the point and very easy to understand on all the points of the software, including things like creating many to many relationships, instituting successful cascade drop down menus, etc etc, it's all there and retrievable with the click of a mouse. An email to the developer resulted in a phone call directly from him in a matter of minutes! Actually talking to the developer helped me get my specific questions answered and also led me to believe that someone would be there if I got stuck. He's a very excited guy and really loves what he does.

There ya go. Just didn't want to leave this thread hanging..... I'll let you know how it works out.
