Orca Header and Footer Problem

Hello,

I just installed the full Dolphin suite including Ray and Orca. All modules and plugins are registered, and everything seems to be running fine except for the Orca Forum, which displays the raw HTML code for the header and footer instead of the actual layout.

Did I miss setting the correct permissions for a particular file in the Orca folder/subfolder? I've gone thru the installation checklist a number of times and it appears that the permissions are all set correctly according to the checklist.

If I copy the code that's rendered into a Notepad file, add <html> to the beginning of the file and </html> to the end, and save it as an HTML file, the resulting html file will display the header and footer properlwhen loaded into a browser. My guess is that the html tags aren't inserted into the dynamically-rendered page (index.php in the orca directory). Not being a php whiz kid, I don't want to monkey around with the file too much and risk crashing everything.

After reading some other posts regarding similar problems, I checked and verified that my hosting service has XSML installed and enabled.

I should mention that the basic creation/editing functions work (create group, new topic, post message, etc) - it's just that the header and footer are messed up - including the main navigation menu, which means the only way to navigate away from the Orca forum page is to hit the "back" button on the browser.

I realize that there's probably a simple fix for this - I've simply run out of ideas.

That's what I love about community-supported software/open source - "there are no secrets, just stuff you haven't learned yet."

Thanks very much in advance,

BTW - I'm totally blown away that a suite this powerful and complex in function (Dolphin/Orca/Ray) is so relatively simple to install and to get operational. Granted, it's not for total "newbies," but for the most part it only requires a little knowledge of FTP, basic MySQL configuration, and general working knowledge of CPanel File Manager to get up and running.

You can rest assured that once these little bugs (very few for the degree of complexity and interactivity) are ironed out I'll be springing for the ad-free versions without hesitation. Boonex makes Filsaime's Butterfly Marketing script look like a kiddie toy in comparison, and the future of the internet definitely lies in social interaction through platforms like this.

For what it's worth, I've discovered that the problem appears to be with Firefox. The forum pages appear normally in IE now.

I have the same issue after a new install with no issues. All permissions are correct, and I use IE. I have checked in other browsers FireFox, Opera, and Safari, and all show same raw code issues. How can I fix this? site is www.socomheadquarters.com, and I don't want to start advertising this with broken code.

After considerable study of the forums - along with some helpful PMs from other members, it appears that there's an issue on my server concerning XSL. Although my hosting company reports that an XSL wrapper is installed and functional, apparently that isn't sufficient for the functionality that Orca requires.

I'm going to try installing everything on a different web hosting account and see what happens. I'll post my results in this thread once I've done that.

My personal vision is to create a community centered around training people of all experience levels to market effectively on the internet, without having to invest hundreds or thousands of dollars in a boatload of "guru crap" that's typically way overpriced, and in many instances obsolete - especially considering how Web 2.0 has drastically changed the landscape as far as marketing is concerned.

Most of those so-called "gurus" are still in the process of figuring out Web 2.0 themselves, and as a result most of the "information products" they're selling are centered more around theory than on actual experience and results (or from only very limited experimentation in new methods).

I'm particularly amused at those "gurus" who are continually trying to completely "automate" social media marketing. For some reason, they just don't "get" the fundamentals of Web 2.0 - personal 1-to-1 communication and interaction. Some of the tasks involved may be "automated" and made simpler to perform, but successful online marketing still boils down to establishing a personal connection with the people you're marketing to. "Robots" just can't do that - and they never will be able to!

Thanks to everyone in the community for the support - it's great to be a member of such a positive and forward-looking group of people.
