Offer on my domain... on the fence...

So I have a sizeable offer my domain (25k-35k USD) from a reputable domain marketplace... I've owned the domain for a few years, but only really been active and running for 1... IMO, it's one of the best adult domains and well... I'm attached to it and I don't want it to be a lame parked domain etc, but it does take a lot of up keep. They only want the domain so all the work in site development isn't lost...

Should I take the $ and run? Get more?
Do I get taxed to hell on that?
How likely is it to keep my membership and site running with a different domain, that will never live up to reputation of the original?

PM if interested to know the domain (no tire kickers, I'll look at your post history) which will put any replies into perspective...

Just looking for some advice

Depends how much money you put into it, how much it makes back

also if you wana still run the site, or have another project ready to focus on etc....

25-35k is not bad if its a legit offer, although without knowing your site its hard to really say.

Do your research; find out who they are.  Get an escrow to handle this.  There has been plenty of scams in the pass to get control of domain names and once it is transferred almost impossible to get back.  Even cashier's cheques have been counterfeited.  You could be in the middle of a scam.  Seriously, that is a lot of money for a domain and that may be to just entice you into the game.

In the USA that would be taxable income on the investment of the amount of the original domain name fee(s).  You would need the advice of someone in taxes but I assume you can deduct the amount of the fees you have paid out for maintaining the domain name.

I do no know who they are that is all private as the whole transaction is being handled by the 3rd party domain sellers/buyers... They are the top site so I trust them and payment would go to escrow.
