Hi

I posted this once before, and got sidetracked with a different issue...I am a getting these errors when this cron is run

I did change the permission to 777 as someone suggested, but should maybe start over from scratch..

How do I fix this?

Thanks

The cache folder needs to be writable. Mode 777.

But did you remove all the files from the cache folder and verify they were all sucessfully removed?

I just removed that again, and the cache folder is 777, I do not see a .htaccess file in there should there be one?

OK  I found another one from another site and copied it over...  all it had was a

Yes. Should have a .htaccess, and that one line is correct.

thanks, the files that are being written in the cache are all 666  is that normal?

Yes. That is normal. It may seem abnormal, but those files are created by the script and also owned by the script. There are permissions, then there is also ownership of the files.

Problems in the cache most often occurs when a site is moved from one server to another or something was restored from a backup. Under those circumstances the file ownership may change. Where 666 permissions are proper for the owner of the file, if the ownership changes then 666 will not allow proper access.

I asked you to remove all files in the folder to eliminate the possibility of file ownership problems.

I understand if you find this confusing.

But yes, it is normal.

I did remove them, and received this error message at 4pm Est

Shorter than normal, so will see what happens tomorrow at 4 pm

Really appreciate the help

This one is different. This one is the tmp folder, not the cache folder, so you will need to do the same thing for the tmp folder. May as well do it for cache_public as well.

although the error is similar, it is a little different, I did make sure the cache was empty, both of them.

The hosting company did move this a FEW times over the past few months.. It should be stable now.  When I look at the permissions they are all showing correct.

Thanks so much for your help

actually it looks the same now that I post it.

Quote · 1 Aug 2012

Its back to the cache folder again. The fix is the same as i previously posted.

However. It has become quite evident to me that this issue is being caused by your host.

I would suggest you find a new host that will not continually screw with your site.

I just created new ones of all 3 folders.. will see how this plays out tomorrow

Quote · 2 Aug 2012

creating new folders seem to work, no error messages.  I know it should have worked with out doing that. they were 777 and empty other than the htaccess file.

sometimes things do not make sense.

Quote · 3 Aug 2012

Well, I spoke too soon..  am getting these again....    wonder what else I can do?

ANYONE have another idea? Would really appreciate that.  I believe I have done all the suggestions..

Quote · 3 Sep 2012

My only other suggestion is to find another host. What is happening does not make since, and should not be happening. So i am calling it a hosting problem. There really is no other explanation.

Do you have a hosting company by chance  (please say yes)

Thanks

I made a little file to test the cache folder and ctime function if you want to try it and see if it gives any error....

Just place it in your dolphin root folder and hit it from a browser.

ok  I cleared the cache and did that

It has a few files, but have no idea what it means.

Really appreciate the help.

Well i just wanted to see if it would give any sort of error's when you ran it but, i see that it didn't.

Just delete the file from the server for now.

Thanks, any other ideas?

Quote · 3 Sep 2012

I think the test should have been run before you cleared the cache.

Clearing the cache may have fixed the problem until it happens again.

I don't run a hosting company, but can recommend one. My website is in my profile. And my site has a link to the hosting company i use if your want it.
