No Spell Check

How come some places in Dolphin have spell check and some don't. Imagine writing a blog and not having any spell check. That is so poor.

Whereas in the comment block on profile and such you have spell check incorporated. Wow! go figure that one.

I think you're talking about your browser's built-in spell checker, unless I'm missing something.

For instance in blogs, there is no spell check.

You can enable spell checking for a field via your browser's right-click menu.

Yes but it is a lot easier whilst typing that your errors are highlighted don't you agree? What boggles the mind is that it is fine in some areas and not so in others.

Any other solutions?

I don't know of any solutions.  There may be an option somewhere for your browser to enable spell checking for all fields.  I know Opera and Chrome do this by default.

Neither do i.

Spell checking is not a function of dolphin so what your seeing has to be the result of a addon/extension of the web browser your using.

Perhaps I am not explaining myself. When entering a blog description if I mistype a word it will not underline it like it does on this forum.

You would need a custom mod if you are looking to have a spell check for all text fields.

You can add spell check to tinymce for all to use, but that will only be good for areas that use tinymce, and you would have to click spell check icon to check and select suggestion.

Like Nathan and Deano said, some browsers or a browser addon have auto spell check that will underline the word if spelling is wrong.  Right now i am using IE and this forum does not underline any word that is wrong.

No, your explaining yourself just fine.

It's not a function of dolphin. Or even these boonex forums.

When i misspell a word, it does not underline ANYWHERE. Not here in the forums, not in the blogs. Not anywhere.

So what we are trying to tell you is your automatic underlining of misspelled words is happening within your browser through some add-on or extension.

It's not a function of dolphin anywhere within dolphin, nor is it a part of these boonex forums.

Firefox will automatically enable spell checking for certain fields, but not all.  For those exemptions, you need to enable it via the right-click menu.  Opera and Chrome have spell checking enabled for all fields by default.  I don't know if Internet Explorer even has a spell checker.

Deano is right.  This is not a feature of Dolphin.  It is a feature of your browser.   We understand you perfectly.  It's you who does not understand us.

Wow, so all this time I thought it was a feature of the application i was using that had a built in spell checker and what you have just educated me with is that the browser is doing the spell checking for me.

Amazing...as they say live and learn....everyday something new.

So tell me something; I was using FF browser, went into groups/events/blogs and mistyped a word...nothing happened no underline warning.

I go and read a blog and comment on it (comment box) , i mistype a word and it underlines. Why is that, same browser, same time. What is it that I am missing here?

You aren't listening.  Firefox does not enable spell checking for all fields.  You can have Firefox enable spell checking for a field via the right-click menu.

It comes down to how the field is represented in the application and whether firefox recognizes it as a field that needs to be auto corrected. An editor may assign one description where the editor that displays the results assigns another and your browser only recognizes one of them.

Or to put it another way ...

ok ok, I think I get it now. Man, you are a tough bunch. I truly appreciate you guys explaining it to me.

@Nathan - I am listening, just not understanding, I think I got it now. Must be the bold statement by SkyForum, must have woke me up

Thanks.
