New helpful modest features in Forum

There are some helpful features in Dolphin 7.1 forum and BoonEx Forums as well which maybe very useful but hardly noticeable.

1. Post permalinks.

2. Quote selection.

To quote just selected part of the post, select desired text with mouse and click 'Quote', only the selected text will be placed to the quote block.

3. Insert attached image to the post.

To do it, you need to submit post with attached images, then 'Edit' submitted post, you will see 'insert to post' link, which inserts attached image to the cursor position.

Ohhhh, so thats how you do it.  I have been trying for the life of me figure out how to get images into a post on the forum.  Actually, I was on the verge of asking what is the easiest way of inserting pics/videos into a post? Is it much better doing this via forums, articles, blogs, ect.,

So I guess my other question will be, once you insert the pics into the forum, can you then remove the download link to the pic that was just inserted?

It removes picture from the post automatically as soon as you un-tick checkbox near the attached file.

Also you can remove it manually from Editor area.

I see.  What I would like to do is remove the link to the pic, not the pic itself, just only the link, to prevent people from downloading. (I know they can right click and download, but Im aslo trying to figure away to prevent that as well.  But first, I need to know is it possible and easy to remove the download link to the pic that was just uploaded?

2ndly, is there a way to upload videos into the forums also? I do not see a way to do it.  If it can not be done via forums, can it be done by articles, blog, ect.,?

good option. people would never guess it was there. i tried it.. but it does not show the "attach to post" until after you "submit" the posting. then re-edit it on my site. d7.1 b2

yes, that's the way it works. It's a bit strange to add photos, then have to edit the post to insert, but it's a GREAT feature.

I expect they did this because of older posters inserting images and then there servers are taken down or moved, and our post have blank boxes all over them. I one of the guilty ones that did that too, post photos. Then having to rebuild the server and loosing the photos that were linked back to here..

i.e. like this post, http://www.boonex.com/forums/?action=goto&my_flags=1#topic/RPX-Live-Join-Animated-Image.htm

I'm still trying to find my images on home pc, HL photos were lost in the tragic Terrabyte loss..so the topic looks very stupid.

 Hello,

I can't see photos in my forum if not logged in. In demo.delphin.com I can't see photos if not logged too.

How can I make that non-member can see photos in forum?

Thanks.

I have having trouble with quoting.  I select the section to quote and it quotes the whole thing instead of the selection.  At one time it seemed to work perfectly and then something changed so that selecting no longer works.

Yes, it works for me but not all the time.  Maybe it has to do with the way I hold my mouth when selecting the text

I believe you may be right.  Try closing your mouth for a week and see if  that helps.

Yeah right.  I often can't decide whether to engage you in conversation, or just go to Mexico and drink the water.  That tinymce episode of yours a while back was grueling.... it made me want to kill myself.

Yeah, right, if I go searching through your history, there are several posts you made on the same issue and other comments on TinyMCE.  It would not have been so bad if I just had known where that strange toolbar was coming from since it was NOT in the Dolphin config file; I would just have edited it and not worry about it.  It was a big issue believe it or not with my users because there were certain custom buttons that HAD to be on the toolbar.  The problem was that I spend days upon days trying to figure that one out and it was getting to be very frustrating dealing with it and having to deal with the members complaining about it.

The thing is HL, you did not have to read the post at all; or was it that you just couldn't stay away ;-).
