Need help urgently re captcha please

Hi,

I need help re Captcha please.... It doesn't work "see uploaded image" it's there, but just a thin red line shows.

I'm in China, however captcha works on my wordpress log in page

I disabled it (as it wasn't working), but now I'm getting spammers every hour, so much so that I had to enable it again, which means new members cannot join, I'm between a rock and a hard place.

I have scoured the forum for solutions but can't find any that work......

ideas and suggestions greatly appreciated..

edit: the captcha on wordpress is a plugin by BestWebSoft

There are some other solutions in the market.

The trouble with being in China is that your government is repressive and may be blocking access that is needed for reCaptcha.

Your photo doesn't show the thin red line, but a red line about 100mm x 3mm does appear instead of the captcha if you haven't supplied the correct keys, or the keys are broken.

The best test would be to go to the Captcha site, sign up for new keys and enter them:

https://www.google.com/recaptcha/intro/invisible.html  

• (Click link on top right)
• Copy keys
• Go to admin/Advanced Settings/Security
• Enter keys
• Flush Cache
• Test

Thanks for your reply and suggestions, I followed your instructions John, unfortunately to no avail. I also double checked my WordPress captcha and discovered that it doesn't have an API key, i.e. it's not linked to google. So I followed Geek girl's advice and downloaded Andrew's Tic Tac Toe Captcha which is up and running, so far so good...... (thanks geek girl).

BTW, the Irish government are not really that bad .............. are they? :)
