Need E-Commerce or more advanced store

Just need a basic store where a user can buy things by signing up with their address, credit card, the norm. I'm surprised this isn't an extension already, you'd think enough people want it. What's the best way to get this done? (the only extension I could find was this, and it doesn't even have a proper description... not sure what it does.)

Some questions:

I'm planning on getting an unlimited license (is that the same thing as premium membership?).

So, once I've done that I can request a developer to create an extension like this? Or somehow incorporate an E-Commerce script into my dolphin site?

Do I have to then pay them for it? Or can I just buy it for whatever they charge in the store..?

Also, why is it you need to have premium membership to be able to request an extension... that seems a little silly. You're already gonna have to pay a lot of money to the developer. I feel like (even though I'm getting the license... I just need to rant) the ads are enough, and it's just gonna keep getting worse and more limited just to get more peoples money. I love that Dolphin is free community software, but I see a lot of these types of projects turn to the dark side of the net. Heh...

If you'd searched for the word "store" in the forum you would have found several responses. The store is definitely a problem since someone at Boonex was stupid enough to call downloadable software "product" which to most normal people means *ANY* physical item that can be sold, regardless if software or not.

Someone here in the forum suggested that the store does indeed work for physical items if you include a file that you upload with the item. This member was talking about uploading a blank text file which might be somewhat silly but it would cause the system to recognize everything else as well, to include any physical items that you might have. Considering the fact that paypal has gotten so big that even Amazon, Walmart, and tons of other sites are now providing paypal as an option, why not tell members that in order to sell physical items a paypal account is needed? Then he or she can create their very own paypal shoppingcart payment & checkout buttons for free which could then, with a little finesse, be added directly to the item description of the item being sold.

It's not a perfect solution but it should work. Heck, that would even eliminate the blank file that I mentioned above, and the Dolphin shopping cart.

No, if you're a premium member it only shows that you've paid for your license and that you can remove all of the copyright info. and other stuff that Boonex displays by default on your site. At least I think that's how it works. You can purchase mods just like everybody else and you can ask developers to develop stuff for you that you'll have to pay for, just like everybody else.

Hi new here but just seen this posting which is something I have been looking for in a dolphin site.

I currently use e-Junkie as my store on another website, which is a fantastic system www.e-junkie.com.

I wonder how I could integrate this into a dolphin site, and offer it to members for using as their store, maybe I should contact e-junkie themselves...

Anyhow looking forward to building my dolphin site!

Simon

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
