Need Advice.

I have a question and also need advice on something.  First, the question.

What are these core files I see popped up on my server?  Are they necessary or can I delete them without having them affect my site?

The Advice:

These past few years, I'm part of a bowling league.  I created a bowling website 2 years ago using Dreamweaver.  It's ok, but I know I can do better.  After using Dolphin for the past 6 months, I would LOVE to create a Dolphin site for the league, but the question is can I?

Can I create a site that most of the content are statistics and image placement?  Mostly i'll be inserting .png and .gif images as well as keeping track of the bowlers games, averages, and having them ranked based on that?  If this would be possible, how would I go about doing this?  If Dolphin isn't the way to go, what is?

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Craig

mmmm - sounds like a fun idea.  Can't answer all your questions, but one feature Dolphin has that might help, is the ability to have profile fields that can be controled by admin, but not by the member.  I guessing you don't want to let people enter their own averages, but an admin could do that and it could still be viewed by guests or other members.  Let us know how this works out.

No let me take that a step further....once these averages are placed in their profiles, is there a way I could rank each bowler based on their averages?  Highest avg. bowler on top, followed by the next, and so forth.

I also need to insert .png and .gif images as well onto a blank page.  Would this work with Dolphin?  All of you Dolphin experts out there...lend me your knowledge!!!

There is more on the internet than you will ever have time to learn  .....

Google or Yahoo would be good places to start  .....

Gee, a link to Google and Yahoo - that is just plain rude.  I had the same question Chennon, and am trying to learn more about this myself.  Let us know if you come up with anything.

It is people like you - YOU, why I hate this community so much.  I don't ask for nothing - I sit for hours developing and giving my mods away, I sit for hours and help, patiently, trying to work through problems - you have posted behind me now a couple times with comments as above.  The changes needed here are a rework, new modules, and i don't think even google will help - someone needs hired to do that kind of work.

No one owes you ANYTHING, and you are constantly criticizing the few individuals here WHO DO HELP.  How about you find your answers elsewhere.

I personally can't think of anything more rude than posting links to google and yahoo on a forum like this - it is basically telling another member to f**k off - but you didn't do it so what is the problem?  The only post I am aware of where I made a post disagreed with you was a snide reference you made to a member you attacked for wanting to use real names on his site - I was able to help that member in at least a small way, but you provided no help at all.  I gave my reasons for disagreeing, and you were welcome to weigh in with your opinion instead of another personal attack.  I'm sorry you hate this community so much - I do not, but maybe you should look at yourself.

The problem is RumpyBumpy is here helping people ALL the time - and you are WRONG, this is not a forum for mysql and php coding - its about dolphin, Rumpy's answer is GREAT - the web is full of resources for those areas.

Sorry, I was always taught to stand up to bullies, and you and a few others often behave like bullies here.  Why don't you insult me by private message as I don't intend to get involved in a public pissing contest.
