With regards to the way this navigation menu builder works, I'm finding it incredibly difficult to figure what is what.
- There are multiple items with the same name. Until you activate an item, there is no way to look at the contents to determine what that nav item represents. A great deal of time wasted moving things around and not knowing exactly what it is inside the duplicate named nav items. All inactive items have the same color - how on earth can you possibly know where they belong until you activate them and open them up to determine what they're programmed to do.
- If changes are made to an item and you screw up, there is no default reset option for that nav item. This would be a huge help to folks like me who are not developers and have minimum programming skills. In fact, it would be wise to remove the option to delete ANY of the default nav items and replace with a reset option instead.
- When any core/default nav items are activated, that nav item should be taken out of the inactive area. It's confusing to read through a grid of over 250 choices! Ridiculous. After updating to 7.0.2 from 7.0.1, my entire navigation menu crashed, and I have over 400 nav items listed. I have so much crap on this page, I can barely make heads or tails out of it. Not sure why this section does not behave like the field builder section where your inventory of field blocks are either active and placed accordingly, or they are inactive and listed below - not in both places! If a user wants to duplicate an item, then they create one accordingly.
- With regards to creating new nav items, these should be the only items that allow you to delete.
- The core nav items that are are red colored, and cannot be duplicated or modified is another problem. In my case, the "View Profile" went missing on my site after the 7.0.2 install. I cannot replace it, and I cannot create a duplicate. This is quite maddening. If a user screws up and pulls one of those out mistakenly, there is no way to fix it. Aside from the 7.0.2 update error on my end, this is still a potential problem for people to mess up their site. Solution - they're always a red colored nav item, whether active or not.
- Lastly, instead of having this long string of nav items stretch way over to the right, can't the size of these blocks be reduced? Also, why don't we take the core red colored nav items and move into a separate line and section? This has got to be the single most confusing aspect of the admin area when setting up a site.
I hope this all makes sense.
Cheers - Jethro
