MySQL v10 with v7.3.5

Does anyone know of any issues running v7.3.5 with MySQL v10.2.25 MariaDB?

Other Packages:

Apache 2.4.39

PHP 5.6.4

Perl 5.16.3

Kernel 3.10.0-862.11.6.el7.x86_64

dedicated Server

My recent forced change to a new host - TDMHosting has been traumatic to say the least. Boonex recommend these guys yet they haven’t a clue what they are doing. mySQL version as previously v5. I’m worried that they just up-loaded the dumped v5 database from the previous host into a v10 database. Surely there must be an upgrade for such a big jump no?

Too bad you didn't go with me.  Did you mean php 5.6.40?  There is no problem running MariaDB with Dolphin, been doing it for years.  Dolphin doesn't use Perl so that doesn't matter.

Hind site is a wonderful thing! The question is in the subject my dear, mySQL v10?

Yes I did mean PHP 5.6.40 for that is the version installed by Zarconia way back in the day when Boonex recommended decent knowledgeable hosting companies. The remainder of the versioning was an attempt to not be made to seem stupid but give as much relevant info as possible.

Yes, and I answered.  There is no problem using MariaDB with Dolphin.  MariaDB is a direct drop in for MySQL; it is created by the ones that created MySQL and didn't like the new direction when Oracle acquired it.

Your question, "Does anyone know of any issues running v7.3.5 with MySQL v10.2.25 MariaDB?" was a little confusing but I assumed you wanted to know if MariaDB was OK with Dolphin.  MySQL and MariaDB are two different products and there is no MySQL v10.2.25.  For MySQL Community release the current generally available release is 8.0.17

If you don't have MariaDB installed on your server, then I suggest creating a repo for it using the online tool for this at the MariaDB website.  This will allow easy updates when they are release.  You will need to remove MySQL before installing MariaDB as they are too closely related to both exist on the same server.

Of course back up any databases before removing MySQL.  Removing MySQL shouldn't remove the databases but it will be best to back up the database to sql files and then import those databases once MariaDB is up and running.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
