Multiple Shoutboxes

Is there a way to have more than one shoutbox on the index page? I would like one for members to post a different kind of message. anyone know what it would take to do this?

if you wanted 2x shout-boxes ... maybe you could clone the shout box and then change DB tables for 2nd should box

I think it would be something like this ... maybe someone else could help here too >>

1) copy shoutbox files and rename second / copied shoutbox folder to something like 'shoutbox1'

2) rename the tables being called for in the 2nd shoutbox files

3) copy DB files for original shoutbox .. update it with the renamed DB table names and upload to DB

^^^ this would need to be checked ... maybe someone here can confirm if it could work ....

There is more to it than that. A lot more.

Class file names have to be changed, class names, language key names, table names, ect. The module cannot conflict with the existing one.

There are several topics in the forum on renaming and/or making a copy of a module.

Maybe there is something else that can done.

I want a block on my homepage where members can post "Hot Dates" or basically when they are available. it would be awesome if they could post a date using a calendar and have them drop off once that date has passed. but this is not a must.

something like

Jason: Available Saturday night for dinner and drinks
Mark: Several of us getting together for a Bike Ride on Sunday, Meet at the corner of Main & Grand at 10am if interested
Sally: Girls night out @ "Boomers" Bar & Grill Friday night at 8pm.

Just something simple like that, but where members can post there without admin approval.

Any Ideas: I think the ShoutBox would work great, But already using it in a different way. Maybe a different version?

How is a shout box different than a blog?

I am currently using blogs... but don't mind making a switch before we go live with our new release in a week or so... :)
