No more "rows" and "columns"! Put any block on any place on your page and set size you want.

Mouse Block Designer for Boonex Dolphin allows you to organize all blocks on your Dolphin website in the way you want them. Drag and drop blocks, resize them and then click "Save": they will be fixed on their positions. Turn on or off Designer Mode from your admin panel to enable or disable it.

Please take a look at this video explaining how easy it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdfK-ntJOxY
Live demo is coming soon.

Compatible and tested with Dolphin 7.1 and 7.0.9 (most likely will work with all 7.0.x family)

Please feel free to ask the questions here or by sending an email to boonexpert@gmail.com

When this module is installed, the Dolphin page builder is used for changing blocks ordering. For example, if you want to put one block over another, you need to order them in Page Builder. The most bottom blocks in the Page Builder will be able to be placed at the top of other. Something like the logic of z-index in CSS.

Jquery is used on building process ("design more is on") only, no jquery for user side, so site load speed and data transfer is the same. In version 1.1 I added automatic page height for pages with comment sections or RSS feeds, so page will expand automatically when it needed.

Check my site http://boonexpert.com to see how it works on the user end.

 Backgrounds and blocks colors should be changed in css file main.css included in module, all websites have different design templates with different color schemas and colors should be adjusted according to your site. In any way without seeing your site I can't give you an advice, sorry.

Please let me know how can I help you.

Please read manual instruction of this module, it has full explanation how to move blocks over each other.

To set order of blocks (for example, to put one over another) you need to set an order in which blocks will be generated on the page. Just move them up and down in the "Pages Builder": the upper blocks will be behind the others as they will be generated first.

Offtopic: why nobody likes to read instructions coming with modules? I getting a dozens of questions every day that are fully explained in manuals.

Thank you. I have read the instructions but apparently missed it, sorry. I set the blocks with your module when playing the video but there is one problem. After saving and adding a large sample video description, the blocks overlap instead of automatically generating a space. How to fix it or adjust this to not happen? I can not find this in the manual :)
I'm sending a screenshot attached.

 The manual reads:

There's some blocks such as "Comment block" which requires automatic height to be automatically expandable in order to show new posted comments. To make a height of such blocks expandable just double click on the bottom edge of this block and its height will be set to "auto".

Here's the manual for this module, please read before posting on the forum, it will be highly appreciated and will save time.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++
  USAGE:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Login under your main admin account (should be with id=1) and go to admin panel. On the left menu under "Modules" section find "Mouse Block Designer" module and click it. Check "Activate Mouse Block Designer" checkbox to enable designer mode or uncheck to disable.

In designer mode enabled you can move and resize blocks on pages of your site.

On pop-up movable window you have 3 options:
  1. "Set moving step" - to set an accuracy in pixels for moving blocks;
  2. "Set resize step" - to set an accuracy in pixels for resizing blocks;
  3. "Save" - to save all changes to the blocks for current page;

  • There's some blocks such as "Comment block" which requires automatic height to be automatically expandable in order to show new posted comments. To make a height of such blocks expandable just double click on the bottom edge of this block and its height will be set to "auto".
  • To set a position and size of the blocks that are not visible to logged in users (such as "Regisrtation" or "Login" blocks) just set them temporarily visible "For all" from the admin panel "Pages Builder" section.
  • To set order of blocks (for example to put one over another) you have to set an order how blocks will be generated on the page. Just move them up and down in the "Pages Builder": the upper blocks in a builder will be behind the others on the page as they will be generated first.
  • It's better to use one column page design in admin "Pages Builder" for better experience of designing pages.

I need some information on how this module works.  I installed it and it changed all the pages in my site; removing the spacing between blocks.  I thought it would only affect the pages where I actually made changes.  Furthermore, seeing how this works on a site, I would need to be able to design a page on my test server and then add it to the production site; otherwise I will have a mess like I am seeing on my test site.  I am seeing problems with the home page outline block.  With the block designer active, the outline becomes a long block with all the content down the left side of the block; making it impossible to layout the home page.  Deactivating the block designer the outline returns to normal; however, how am I to lay out the home page with the outline displaying incorrectly?  I have two column layouts on just about all pages.  I know you said a one column layout is best for the designer; is that best or a must?  Do I need to remove the column from a page before attempting the design of the page?  I need to be able to layout a page on the test server first then as it would screw up the production site.  I am wondering if this is a tool for only starting a fresh site and not a site that is already built.

 Hello,

This is tool for any website: new or existing one. One column design is recommended since with this module you don't need any "columns style" anymore: all blocks are positioned as "absolute" and you can move them across the page. Once design mode is enabled, you have blocks positioned as "absolute" and they might move a little bit from their initial positions. If you'll pm me your site address I'll check it and help to solve your issues.

 Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you are disappointed with this module, which works for many people. Just a couple days ago I've installed it on new customer website and it works perfectly.

Any known mod can't cause the website losing, if something goes wrong, you can always uninstall it and your site will be back to normal.

You are welcome to check my site homepage to see the result of this module work: http://boonexpert.com

in our conversation you told me that you are going to check it on fresh Dolphin install, but I never heard back from you with the results or asking for help.

>>> a full refund and a bloody big apology

You must try very hard to crash your site by module installation. This module works 100% for many people and I updating it with the new versions. If you don't know how to install some module, it's always better to give your FTP access to the module owner so he will be responsible for his module installation. Otherwise I don't know what are you doing to make your site crash and why it doesn't work.

Edit: I removed that main.css file after reading where you mentioned it.  What purpose does it serve?  Removing it and reloading my site return my layout to normal.  Is it needed for your module?  If so, what purpose, why is it there changing my site design?  I think that is a big cause of support issues; since people don't expect to see their site design change on installation of this module.

 There's a couple files named 'main.css' in Dolphin, what exact path to this particular file?

Also please don't forget to disable cache on your site before changing anything to avoid confusions.

By default module does not changes any site pages, just checked on fresh installed Dolphin. What exactly has been changed on your site after the module installation? Could you pm a link please?

This module is based on "absolute" blocks positions and fixed size, so for now there's no stable possibility to work with the "responsive" templates yet, sorry.

Is this plugin no longer being developed? Looks like its been over a year since it was last mentioned about responsiveness... and over a year since last update..

Just asking before purchase is all..

Its the 'responsive' need that i was wondering was being addressed.  Responsive sites are no longer the future. they are the primary type of site now.

I would love to buy this, but if it cannot work for a responsive site now or ever, then i'm afraid i cant. :/

That's all I was asking.  Sorry for confusion.

Sincerely,

Mac

Quote · 10 Apr 2015

It uses "absolute" blocks in order to make them movable (which is the only way), so currently there's no technical possibilities to make it work with responsive layouts. Responsive layouts are using multiple width-related css classes, but by moving blocks you are able to make only one-width css classes, that's the difference.

If anybody have any ideas on how to do it technically, I will appreciate it.
