My guess is it's using Google Translate or another similar tool. I'm obviously doubtful of the translation quality.

The option for Google Translator works very well on my site. And its free!

Its a good idea, but why pay $150 dls if i can buy a translation "revised by pros" in less than that. To be honest i don't believe in  the "PROs" so im doing a manual translation... didn't pay $30 dls, will not pay $150... if i had that money i could buy better mods!!

Any ways... translation by Google is crappy in spanish, so it wont work for me.

Maybe if it had a side to side translator panel like the attached shot from a joomla translator system. Then maybe will pay but not $150.

Well, it depends on your needs, if your site focused on one language, non-english language, then you might want to have it translated by "PRO's", but don't know what exactly you meant by that. If you mean professional dialect expert, then that's good. The problem on this approach are the add on modules that you will be installing in the future, if you're planning to have more mods installed on your site,  then you better have the language creator mod, to update the languages from those mods to your site language, or else it's gonna be messy.

The language creator mod can also detect missing keys and that's very important if you have 10,000 language strings to check. You can always edit those language strings that you don't like through the admin panel but not all the thousands.

Just my 2 cents ;)

I simply agree with scriptologist and also feel that this is a very very good utility for multi lingual sites.

If i am able to arrange money i would certainly buy this mod.

Noticed this mod the other day as Im looking for some translations.

Does this translate all languages that google covers?

Yes it does cover all google supported languages.

I translated English -> Dutch .. using google translate, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Wordpad and standard notepad.

All i need to do now is just tweak the translation.

If you guys want, i could explain how i did it.

Does this module translate the site 'live' as in whatever modules have been added to the site as well as text that has been changed such as 'about' or 'faq' etc...

or does it translate the standard dolphin lang file but then still show additional modules in English?

It is an up to date translation, whatever strings are currently on site, it will be translated, and whatever new strings added it will be updated to their corresponding translations.

If you are not wanting to have your site to one particular language but you would like to get more viewers from other languages then you do not have any choice except this as of now ...And we are using it and i can tell you how easy the life has become for us since we have multiculrtural students from different backgrounds and different languages.  I think now we can attract students apart from english even from other languages.

Kudos to you Scriptologist for making our life easier.....excellant you will know the value only after installing it ...so go ahead and buy it and install it...

i think you have been upgraded to a moderators status and this is pity to know how boonex can upgrade somebody with this thinking to a higher status.

I am using Scriptologist mod an di know how easy our life has become.

If you do not know what the mod is then why comment  on it and offering your services when you might not even know how much effort goes in translating  various language files and that too if their are many languages.

For example we have almsot about 60 mods installed and we are developing this site for our collage which has multilingual students.  Think about 13 languages and 60 mods into god only knows how many strings are there in it.

I personally can tell this mod is simply superb and excellant and fully recommended.

you can always ask the developer fro his efforts if he is able to negotiate on the price but not what you are doing.........

I am sorry if i am hurting anybody here as i know how hard it is to develope something and program something since i myself being a IT student.

i have a client who purchased this mod. of course me being the skeptic that i am, i just had to see it work. 

and work it does.

takes a bit of time, but much faster than i could even consider attempting to do it with babelfish or even the google translator online. 

the benefits, the work is done for you. you select your FROM language TO language, sit back get a coffee and it does its thing. nice work indeed. 

cons: it doesnt appear that its translating orca. i wen to admin, orca forum, manage forum, and the forum is not translated, and the link only says to compile EN

con: astronomical size your database would become if you were to translate all languages available on the module. 

just from English to Danish with 34 modules installed , 33 default and this one, the table increased to over 10K records. so what i want to do is make sure since this is essentially static, that it will get cached on the dbase, but even then, the default size is just under 3K records, so not sure how it ends up with over 2x what you would consider it to be translating. 

in the end, awesome job. this is not specifically designed for a site with one-language, but having the option to load your site internationally. and as scriptologist stated, how long would it take you to translate 48 languages. 

yeah dont know, nor do i think there is an accurate translation anywhere that is going to satisfy all. yes it uses google translation,which is an acceptable translation, for something short of hiring professional translators, and even then, would they get every word in dolphin/orca/ray converted precisely? doubtful.

if you are looking for a multilingual site, this mod is a really good start forward. 

scriptologist, can you kick me some feedback on translating orca and the flash apps, as well as what is the possibility of the chat and instant messengers being translated?

Look on the mod's page, it is compatible for 7.1.1 according to the compatibility thingy; which of course means 7.1 as well.

yes it is now but only recently. It works ok. has some problems when it should not translate keys in { } and adding/subtracting whitespaces...
