Mods & Malware?

I was just looking at some of the mods offerd  for sale and was wondering about the possibilty of malware.

I am not programmer so checking the code is not an option for me. Is  there any approval process or third party testing sites for these mods offered on http://www.expertzzz.com.

Also would  scanning it my antivirus/malware be enough to check it my self...I use f-secure for my protection.

There is no approval process, but you will often find comments from buyers/users...

Until now I didn't find any malware, just some links to other sites or some Google adds :-))

I recommend to ever have a look to the content of the sql file, if any, before to run it ! ;-)

There is an approval proccess for mods (extensions) on Unity, and are gone thru my moderators and others at Unity.

I was under the impression that the Expertzzz sections would be integrated into the unity platform at some point, thus giving better control and quality over mods.

When it comes time to buy I will choose mods that are either from unity, for expertzzz I will make sure to check comments then maybe ask someone here to check it out for me before I install..

Thank You

Yea that would probably be best... You can also search for the mod, and see what people have said about it.

Yes, unity have pre-moderation, expertzzz haven`t.

Here several problems.

Boonex haven`t special staff to perform moderation. Yes, this is admins but in off-work time. So nobody do this in own free time.

So, after publishing mod can pass 1-2 and more month :) crazy.

even after reuploading new version of mod - mod coming to 'Approval Pending' status. And again need wait X month. So .. it hard to live here. And usually alls use expertzzz site to it. Yes, here need be accurate and attentive, need check comments and rating as minimum, + check tenderness of mod author, ask about demo, author rating. His activity. And after decide to purchase something.
