Misunderstanding Language keys and adding/naming blocks

Hope I'm not going to get reamed for this-

Here's the steps I've taken: I created a folder at my site and uploaded a page with a script to automatically play a PowerPoint video I created. Then I made a new navigational button for the home page. I named the button Great Imitator and set the language key to _Great Imitator. What I'm confused about is that underscore that I'm placing at the beginning when naming the language key. It ends up being displayed on my button when I flip over to the home page. If I remove it all is good but I'm worried it's gonna screw something up somewhere that I'm not seeing right off or otherwise bite me in the nut somewhere later on down the road during an upgrade or something. Am I misunderstanding something here? Do I need to put that underscore at the beginning when naming the language key?

I have added an HTML block to my UNI base template and didn't put the underscore. Why the block doesn't appear when switching to my "Firestarter" template is beyond me but no big deal I guess.

Sorry in advance if this isn't forum material. I'm used to reading forums but not all that experienced with actually posting to them.

There are other things I'm wondering about as well. Is it taboo to post more than one question in a forum post? I'll post a separate topic for my other question just to be on the safe side.

Thanks Guys

I came across  this. hope will help answer your concern: http://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/HTML-Block-D7-can-have-different- names-.htm..I always put the underscore when I make a language key but not on the block itself, I don't even know if it makes any difference but everything else is written that way...

Wow- Nice find....one post that addresses both questions I had! What's the chance? I knew there was a mod for creating new member types which I can't afford to buy right now but was hoping I could alter what was already built in. Shucks!

Thanks for the help pinoygarage...Much appreciated!
