Migration

Hi all, is there a document on how to migrate Boonex 7.3.5 from windows server 2016 to Linux, and also what version of Linux should I use.

Thank you

It's more to do with the version of PHP your server is using. Dolphin is happy with 5.5 but the current version isn't happy with 7.0

Migration is straight forward. Move the database and the script to the new server, then alter /inc/header.inc.php. There's only a few lines that need changing.

You'll probably have to play with permissions as well.

Have a look here, but also do a search because the question has been asked a few times before:

If you're operating your own server, I think it depends heavily on your skill level and how much you're prepared to invest. I went for Ubuntu for a number of reasons, none of which imply that it's the best choice. Firstly, being with Digital Ocean where you have several choices, I found that Ubuntu seemed to have more followers, thus more help seemed to be available. I wasn't able to afford CPanel or Plesk, and the thought of running a server from the command line didn't appeal to me one bit. Thus, I decided on the Sentora Panel which is both free and working remarkably well. It's a bit behind the 8 ball however and I was more or less compelled to use Ubuntu 14.04 to get it to run.

These things are all worth considering because there isn't a great deal of human help out there. I blundered through forums, tutorials, endless mistakes and many late nights, but all is working like clockwork finally.

The other option of course is to go with someone like Zarconia where amazing support is offered.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
