I'm having issues for membership restrictions for users. Most of the restrictions will work however these two restrictions do not work at all:
View Profile, I have it set to let the non-registered user view 5 profiles in 24hr period, however the restriction does not apply and the non-registered user can view all profiles.
View Pictures, I have it set to let non-registered users view 5 picutres in 24 hr period, however the restriction does not apply and the non-registered user can view all the pictures
I also have standard users limited to view 25 pictures in 24 hrs but after 1 picture view dolphin restricts registered users viewing.
I'll post more as I dig deep in testing these.

Bump for important topic. |
It is an important topic mauricecano. My site is not operating properly at the moment so I cannot verify, but Boonex should address this. Maybe someone else can also test it to see if this flaw is really there or is some fluke. It is hard to believe something like this could have made it through all those betas. |
I installing another version of D7 RC2 on a test domain so I can start testing a bunch of this stuff without messing up my member site.
I will check this as well, Just give a little while.

Non-member needs to be counted. One of the reasons to have the limit option for non-members is so we can give them a little access to teaser content to pike their interest so they will want to join the site.
But the issues with standard member count needs to be fixed so once they're regular free members we can again get their interest in giving webmasters some $$$ to get rid of the limited access features.
Thanks for the ticket to bring this matter so it can get addressed.

Hello mauricecano!
Couldn't reproduce this bug from my side. I made 2 photo's view per 24 hrs for Standard level and it was working as need - i visited 2 photo pages and couldn't see 3rd. If u have this trouble in live site then provide me ur FTP & Cpanel, admin 1 user test access via PM.

Leonid,
I think you might have misread this as I did. He is not talking about "standard level" he is talking about "non-registered members" being limited in their profile views. This might be interesting to have, but I assume it would be much tougher technically, and involve a cookie or something.

Yes Cal that is the main issue. You should know that they do track all users, registered or not, by IP in the database already. I don't know it if it would be too big of an issue but it really makes no sense that unregistered people can have unfettered access to the site where registered users would be restricted.
I know the only way to prevent that is to not allow unregistered users to not use anything, but then you lose the ability to give someone a "taste" to entice them to join.
Leonid I did a little more digging and for whatever reason my standard profile test was the only profile affected, once I made new ones they all work fine so I'm going just chalk that one up to a fluke.

Hello Cal!
I think u didn't read all my posts here - my speech about non-register was separated (where i told that non-users can't have limit actions per time). mauricecano said also that standard level has trouble with actions per time too. Ticket was created by this part of his root message. So as author said - standard level works fine. About possibility to count actions for non-registered members - it will be discussed for adding for 7.1 only.

If the function isn't there and may never be there, a major mistake in my option, then something needs to be done about membership level.
The non-registered user's edit options need to be changed to either enabled or be disabled and get rid of all the other options to count and limit like registered users. To keep those options in there is absolutely misleading to webmasters thinking they can use it to setup their website and limit non-registered users. They do need to be told in clear text that enabling an item for non-registered users allows the non-register user to use the item without any restriction. Otherwise a webmaster may never realize that non-registered users are doing things they thought would be limited in scope.

Oh brilliant, I found the topic relating to my problem but as always it's not a BUG it's an extra feature that might be added in a Year or Two
