If member is idle, I think they are automatically show as offline, although I'm not sure.

This happens on sites; but when they respond they are active again..

This to me is still a mystery...

I have been on sites talking to members and their "icon" clearly shows them off-line. To make this change is when you "simple chat or refresh the page"

Why does this happen?

There is no way to know if a member is online unless there is activity. So, as a member moves around the site the last time a page was loaded is recorded in the database.

If a person sits idle or is chatting then no page movement is occurring so dolphin will assume they are offline if this preset period of time has elapsed.

Live time checking to determine if a person is online or not is not possible without constant flow of data between dolphin and each connected member. Which of course would kill the site.

Unlike a IM client like yahoo IM. Web browsers request data from the server. The server cannot talk to the client. So the sever cannot just simply ask "Hey are you online" which limits how activity monitoring can be done.

For me, this is particularly an issue on the Chat Room page. Is there a way I could add an Ajax block that refreshes every two minutes so that the member stays logged in to the site?

Actually this would be a Rayz issue if the member is in a chatroom chatting or using the IM feature but not loading from pages from yoursiteiscool.com.  Note that the flash has the ability to determine if you are online or not online (look at yahoo/MSN and so on) for an indefinite period of time unless the user logs out.  So, where are those source files again?  Do you have them this time Magnusoft?
